GV battle
« on: February 21, 2009, 08:30:55 AM »
The Gv Battle at 106 was a blast. However we (axis) had 19 gv's (2 under the max limit). The allies had 28 gv's.   I saw in the rules a max of 22.

Sorry Tuk.  I had two of my guys reup after being killed.  One of them was able to kill additional enemy tanks.
We all knew it was one GV life only.  I apologize for that Tuk.

Also by my count, there were 15 russian GVs.

Ty kermit for your reply.  Just hoping someone would give me some sort of closure.  We followed the rules and we got smacked.  I saw 2 non squad reuppers, and 2 squad reuppers after the kill. The rest of the t34's put up a honest fight.   I lead a squad of  all-around players.
For morale sakes, I just wanted some closure. Check our logs, the 13mpg and the 5th followed rules to a t.  The gv fights in the fso's need to follow the rules, or they will discontinue the portion of the fso.
Kermit, we are straight, ty for your post.

Any scoring penalties will come from the admin of the event.  I am sure he will respond when he see the thread.  I don't see anything wrong with you pointing out a problem, as long as everybody stays civil, which has been the case so far with this.  All of us are human, and make mistakes.  The admin will decide what penalty, if any is to be assessed.

From reading the logs a few misspawned then reupped (no big deal ) but the others. :o  I think the 1 life in Gv's is the way to go with GVing in FSO  :aok  IMHO. Maybe the gv fields could be locked within a few min of start. The base had close spawns and the fight began within 4 min or so of launch. It was a good fight.. we had a some communication issues and then we got rollled. Then to read the logs and see then numbers that reupped   :O
Reupping (like toejam)happens from time to time. we've misreupped once before got our hands slapped and some squadie suspended for rest o tour. No worries thoo ITS ALL GOOD or will be made so.

We evaluate everything as a case by case situation. So there is nothing like hey 2 violations and you are out. In this case it seems that it was newbies who didn't really know better and the other squad has apologized for it. I am willing to take this as a honest mistake and not something pre-planned by them.

So that said they will get a slap on the wrist or a strike with a warning that there better not be any more strikes over the next couple of frames and their side will be assessed a penalty. Right now basically I think it will invalidate the GV results for their side.

In other cases where it does seem systematic, pre-planned, not a mistake, etc. it could lead to much harsher sanctions. Since GVs are rare in FSOs as I said I can see newbies not understanding that one life applied to them. However, say they did this in the air it would be another story entirely since that is what FSO is about and that rule has been in place for years and I expect people in their squad to say .. "hey you can't up again .. land, land now!"

As I said we evaluate on a case by case basis rules violations.

Along with all that has been said, it also stems back to the squad CO to make sure his squad understands the orders and special rules prior to the frame starting.  To say "oh, he didn't know that he couldn't re-up in his GV" smacks a little of not doing a good job in the pre-mission brief.  Treat it as a learning experience for all.

I think this "issue" has been handled in the best manner possible and  :salute the FSO CM Team and CiC's for their time and effort put forth to allow us to have this much fun.

Exactly ImADot. It is the squads CO's and XO's responsibility to inform his pilots of the rules and make sure they know it. In this case I can reasonably see how spawning and engaging in battle in under 4 minutes and still being engaged when new guys break the rules can be missed by a CO or XO since they might have been engaged in hot and heavy fighting and didn't notice the other guys respawning.

However, it is still an infraction since they should have made sure their pilots knew only 1 life for a GV driver. Which is why there will be a penalty. If I thought or found evidence of it being systematic or pre-meditated or there response was .. get over it you CM Nazi it is just a game and we will do what we want .. sanctions would be more severe.

For right now it will be points and logged in our tracking that squad violated and needs to be watched over the next couple of frames / FSOs.
