Differential mods for better traction

I'm considering doing this diff mod for more traction, since my car will be transitioning from a daily driver to a weekend racer.  :rock

Questions for you guys - I already have a beefed up clutch, so do you think I'll have the same problem this guy had?  Also, what's the best street-legal tires for straight acceleration since I expect the extra traction will have me spinning the wheels all the time by accident?  This guy had so much traction he couldn't get out of the driveway without burning his clutch, so I'm going to borrow some welding equipment and get right to work.

My sister in laws ex called me once... been several years a go.... and said he and a buddy did a front brake job on his truck and it would not move. I went over to his house and took a look. He had disc fronts and had put the anti squeal material that should be on the back of the pads, on the face of the pads. Was like glueing them to the rotor. After a long laugh we pried those pads off and he cleaned them then did the installation under my supervision.

almost as good as the "Water-Cooled Case gone wrong" thread, I think that one went 32 pages and that was a couple of years ago.

My buddy has a home built rock crawling buggy with "Lincoln-Locked" diffs.   If you know what you are doing, it is fine.

If you're gonna be drag racing, I'd suggest spending $400-$500 and get a Detroit Locker.   You may end up in a situation where you end up trashing an entire rear axle assembly.

ok, now THAT is funny.

if you really are doing anything though, don;t weld anything. go buy a detroit locker. if you have a ford, then get an 8.8" traction loc with 31 spline axles. it'll handle up to about 650 hp or so.

 tires........bg goodrich drag radials.


if you're not, then you can go ahead and laugh at me now.

I'm not really going to do anything.  Well, I might put in a beefier front swaybar and rebuild my race shocks, but that's all I can do and still race stock class in SCCA SOLO2.  I dunno what the tire of choice for autox will be this year but I still have some 5 year old race tires that I have to scrub down to cords before I buy a new set.

I never clicked on the link.   Knowing Pirate4x4, that is a joke with spare parts.  But then again, Pirate4x4 is a joke of website within itself.   

Lincoln Locked diffs are not that bad if done by a good welder.    Again, my buddy has a Buggy on Dana 60's with a T-Bird SuperCoupe engine, that is bored over.   He used to have the same drive train in a CJ-8 and ran the same H1 rims/tires.   He never broke the weld.
