Both have advantages and disadvantages, to me it depends on the driver of the red icon. Many a time I wished I had been in another plane when I come across a Chog driven by a knowledgeable driver. But if I could choose a hog it would be either the A or D model most of the time, the C is a heavy beast.
The merge is usually a good tell, many a time I have merged with a Chog, realized it's a decent driver and immediately realize my arse is in trouble. With the spit, I have only met a few who I merge with that I start sweating after the merge, the plane has way too many weaknesses if you know how to expose them. When you meet a Chog, it is usually a fight to the death, not many avenues of escape unless you make that decision early on in the fight. But use the Chogs weight against it and you can be successful, underestimate it and your usually picking up a new ride in the hanger. Bottom line, of the two, 50-50, cuz the driver makes the difference between em.
