He 219 better hope it surprises the Mosquito, because it hasn't the speed, acceleration, climb rate, or turning ability to match the Mosquito in a fair fight.

I hate to doubt your opinion, but I must disagree.

Speed is very comparable. Only nightfighter Mosquito Mk 30 is few miles faster.

Weight and wing area are close, as well as engine power.

I think that by good variant choice we might get a really cool matchup.

There's no point arguing about it, because we don't have:

1.Night
2.Realistic ground and airborne radar, countermeasures/jamming, radio/radar guidance.
3.Thousand bomber raids
4.Etc...

The only way planes got kills at night was to SNEAK up on the enemy from behind, and attack from close range. Something that is virtually impossible in online flight sims, unless the other guy is afk or something.

So, there's no point. (The Mosquito wins anyway  )

Maybe one day, someone will actually make a nightfighter sim. It seems to me like alot of people want one.

You are right about the speed.  Some He 219 variants were faster than some radar-equipped Mosquitos.  But wing-loading and power-loading still go to the Mosquito.  He 219 sure is a nice design though.  I prefer Ta 154 of course.

He 219A-7/R1
2 x DB603G (1900 hp @ s/l, 1560 hp @ 24.2k)
416 mph @ 23k
1810 fpm at s/l
33730 lbs loaded
479 ft^2 wing area

D.H.98 Mosquito N.F.XIX
2 x Merlin 25 (1620 hp @ s/l, 1500hp @ 9.5k)
378 mph @ 13k
2700 fpm at s/l
20,600 lbs loaded
454 ft^2 wing area

Note:  Mosquito N.F.XXX was introduced in 1944, with Merlin 113 (1535 hp @ s/l, 1690 hp @ 13k, 1430 hp @ 27k).  Top speed went up 423 mph!  About 300 were built.

I am sure that careful choice of versions will make a good matchup. In fact, I was surprised to see some numbers of He 219 (A7, I think) which puts it very close to the Mosquito. Besides, it would be nice to have Mk 103 at last.

In any case, He would be better choice than Me 110 of any version.

Note the weight and climb figures.  They are similar to B-25.

Pfft! Mk 103.

If you want a real man's German cannon, try the MG 213C/20.
