Did I HO ?
« on: February 28, 2009, 09:59:51 AM »
I was flying La7 trying to get to where the fight was, I see a fellow squadmate about 3.5k in front of me, I head towards him, I then hear on vox a 262 just tried a run on him as he said that I see the 262, now I am already flying to aid my squadmate and within a few seconds the 262 is heading straight at me about 1000 out so I fired, he had turned into my flight path and continued that track, of course he went down and the next thing on 200 was nice HO dweeb.  My responce was THANK YOU. So did I take the wrong action or not if you had a 262 closing on you head on that he had made possible by his maneuver would you think he going to HO you or not I did and took the first shot.

Lets see.....

You are flying along, joining a squad mate.  Someone attacks that squad mate and then turns towards you, coming straight at you while you stay on that same course.

And they squeak about YOU HOing? Doesn't matter who "fired first", they are the ones that setup the situation :rofl

He took the chance, he knew the risks, it's his fault he died. Yes, it sounds like a HO (Head On), but it's his fault he died.

besides all of that the only reason a ho is looked down on is it wasnt allowed in the other game before aces high, in real life if you look at the combat films they shot head on every time the opportunity presented it self  SO SALUTE FOR THE KILL

262 is the ultimate HO target. Its ALWAYS OK to HO a 262. The pilot in question is an obvious noob if hes complaining about getting HO'd while in a jet. Whenever i fly that thing, i avoid head to head passes like the plague because i fully expect to get a face full.

First off. HOs are looked down upon because they take no skill. You dont have to work for angles. You dont have to be good. A pilot who always looks for a HO is a dead pilot. Whenever I see guns blaring on the first pass, 99 times out of 100 i know its a dweeb who will be an easy kill. Its easy to avoid unless greatly outnumbered, and slow.
Like I said in my previous post, its OK to HO 262s in my book. Its ok because the 262 is an impossible plane to shoot down otherwise unless they are caught slow, and its just hilarious when it happens.

As for the real life HO. First off, If i were a real pilot, the last thing i would do is purposely give my enemy an easy guns solution. That's tantamount to suicide. Sure, it happened, but no way would any sane person purposely use that as a tactic to kill unless the enemy didn't have a firing solution, or they were taken by surprise.

Im so sick of the "they did it in real life" excuse. This is a game of skill, NOT real life. You only show how unskilled you are if you are taking a HO every chance you get. I admit I take a HO shot every once in a while if im forced to, but using it as an actual tactic is very lame and will not make you a better player.

Ultimately it is your $15/month. Do what you want. You will rarely see me complain about getting HO'd because I AVOID it. That doesn't mean i don't think its gamey and dweeby.
