1. 170 gallon was for ferry use only.

2. IX should have them too, currently it has a German 300 litre drop tank?!

3. Ju 88A-4 could use 900 litre metal or wooden drop tanks on the wing racks too, not to mention the commonly used bomb-bay tanks.

4. TBM also had a 275 gallon droppable bomb-bay tank I think. Plus 2x58 gallon wing drop tanks.

170 gallon slipper + an extra 28 gallon tank in rear fuselage = 1100 miles range.

I also want an LF V.

There seems to have been a real reluctance to adapt the Spitfire for long-range purposes.  Neither the rear-fuselage tank, nor the various drop or slipper tanks, were much favoured, except for ferrying purposes.

Nath....I thought I remembered reading in a post some time ago that we would get a drop tank for the SpitV.  It was posted about the same time they mentioned fixing the ammo loadout in the Nik2.  I went looking for the post the other day but can't find it now.

Thought this would be a great addition to the SpitV also, especially since we were in the midst of the Afrika Corps scenario and saw how limited the current fuel load made it.

Will keep hunting for that post.

Nath; when they used the 170 gallon tank and fuselage bladder, they had to remove all unneeded equipment to reduce weight, ie: guns.

Spitfire LF.V or a Seafire LIIC or III would be cool. Probably see it about as soon as a Fw 190F-8 though...

No drop tank for the Seafire either.
Found this photo still on the board. Still haven't got this option for the Typhoon

Was that an "official" load, or a "field mod"?

Uhh Nashwan? Move the clipboard, you'll see a pair of cigar-tube shaped doohickeys. Twin 44-gallon drop tanks. If you were refering to the drop tank plus rocket load, I don't know if Pyro will ever stick that in.

Why not?  Navy birds get mixed drop tank / ordnance loads.

See my question, I highly doubt it's a programming issue.

Offical or field mod?
Certainly not a mod, the plane had points for drop tanks, and points to attach rocket rails. No mods needed. Never seen anything to say it could be done, but I haven't seen anything to prohibit it either.
I think if a plane has tank and rocket points you should be able to use them all, unless it would add too much weight. Seeing as the Typhoon could carry 2 1000lb bombs, I hardly think 2 drop 45 gallon tanks and 4 rockets would weigh too much.
The US planes (Hog Jug and Stang at least) all seperate rocket rails and pylons.
