Japaneze representation desperately needed...
« on: January 03, 2001, 10:58:00 PM »
Tell me, did Japan have any other planes in the war other than the Niki and the Zeke? You wouldn't know it from flying AH.  An entire theater of war and industrial might was devoted to zapping these little rice burners from the sky and we only have two examples? Yet we have a crapload of USA planes. I don't mind, no really don't, but we just had two more planes added and both were USA examples.

Japan needs representation! Come on I don't fly the little ricemobiles but it would be nice to try out a Ki84 or a J2M naval based plane.

We need Betty's, Franks, Jacks, Toni's, uber-zeke's a6m8c, etc...

And don't even think of perking the Ki84. This plane is equal to the P51D and Spit9. Matter of fact I can't see any Japanese plane that needs perked.

I would to hear from the ears of HT and crew that they were working on a few Japanese planes for the next release.

There is a shortage of Japanese rides here but Pyro did say before they would work on new planes after the 1.05 patch. I say give them a break, they deserve it after crunching out the new version and the patches!

PS I'd like the KI too

Guys,

Ya know, "Ki" was a designation that was put in fron of all IJA aircraft.  It is short for "Kikoki", which means "Airplane".

So when you say something like "Yes, we need the Ki.", you really didn't say anything because the "Ki" is every IJA aircraft out there.  The number following the "Ki" is a strict chronological ordering that has no reflection on the aircraft's role, for example the Ki84 would be the 84th aircraft to see service with the IJA.

The IJN had a different system.  For example, our A6M5b is broken down as follows:

A = Carrier based fighter
6 = 6th carrier based fighter to go into service with the IJN
M = Mitsubishi
5 = 5th major version of the airframe
b = 2nd minor variation of the major version

I do agree though, we need more Japanese and Russian aircraft.

Bring on the Ki61, Ki84, J2M3, A7M2, H8K2 and Il2-M3.

Wobble,

I remember one time back in Guam as a kid, some guy referred to us as 'gooks.'  He said he didn't mean any disrespect, but I still didn't like it.  I still don't.  I'm a human being, just like every other human on this planet.  Using that term to define the Japanese people is disrespectful.  Hope you understand what I'm saying.

Christ not this toejam again!
asian/japanese/whatever are not gooks

The Japanese of WW2 were gooks
they tortured and killed for fun and they though they were a superior race to all and didnt abide by the geeneva convention. So they were murdering subhuman pieces of toejam or  GOOKS.  the same people flew thoses planes hence they are Gook planes..there satisfied?
I get this feeling im about to be labeled a racist.  I dont mean any disrespect to anyone oriental or anything of today, just the amazinhunks of old.

S! Wobble

Actually, although the Japanese did some terrible things during WWII, it probably doesn't help to refer to them as "Gooks".  There were Japanese who behaved in a more normal fashion.  The problem was, that their social model was based on a 600 year old Feudal system, which emphasised courage, and endurance of pain over considerations of others.  It was also rigidly structured to focus Japanese citizen's allegeance to authority.  There were also strong Racial overtones, which placed the Japanese at the top of the World's racial groups.  But there were many aspect of Japanese culture which were quite advanced.  The placed a high value on appreciation of the aesthetic of beauty, both in nature and in man.

This lead to contradictions in behaviour;

For example, the airmen from Bombers who sank the British Battleships Prince of Wales and the Repulse, killing most of their crew, went back the next day and scattered flowers over the ocean where the ships sank.  This was in celebration of the courage of the British seamen.

Concentration Camp commanders wrote poetry.

Anyway, they have emerged from that National mind state and beating them over the head does not really accomplish anything except provoke bad feelings.

The rest of the world could continually attack Americans based on their genocidal and Racist behaviour towards Blacks during the 17th, 18th and 19th century, but we don't do that.  It's not a dominant part of their culture anymore.

The only thing racial comments create is a loss of feeling and empathy within the individual who made them.  And that is their loss.

I would certainly fly the Ki84 if it were modelled, and I wouldn't be alone.  The Hayate was among the fastest Japanese aircraft to see combat, and it had blistering acceleration and an excellent climb rate.  It also had special "butterfly" combat flaps to aid in manueverability at low speed.  It will be a very tough opponent.

I would also like to see a few other Japanese A/C modelled - carrier bombers like the B6N and D4Y would be nice, and a level bomber (ki67 woudl be an excellent choice - fast and tough for a Japanese plane).

Wobble- I'm sure you didn't intend disrespect with your comments.  But you are posting to an international community here and should bear in mind racial slurs are bound to be ill-received.  I don't even contract "Japanese" to "Jap" anymore!  Reread Buzzbait's post - I thought it was excellent.  If you really want to open your eyes to another viewpoint of the war, find a copy of Saburo Sakai's autobiography, "Samurai".   It'll give you a Japanese perspective on the Pacific War, and a better idea of what they were up against.  It was a very good read.
