I liked it, though James Franco's expressions consisted of only a emotionless facade and a wide farmboy grin. Looking for a good WWI flight sim, after being inspired by the movie led me to AH.

Not knowing much about the planes of that time, I have a question.  Were the planes depicted accurately?  Having watched other movies dealing with the subject, it seemed only the aces and top pilots flew the Fokker Dr.1.  Was this movie accurate with the entire squadron flying the triplanes?

I cannot understand you people, a love story?

Show me a single soldier who doesnt have a love story, a single pilot who isnt figthing to RETURN back to the people they love.

EVERY DAMN WAR FILM IS A LOVE STORY. If not for the storyline itself, the people fighting In it have wifes, girl friends mother and fathers, each and every one of them.

When it comes to the cgi, none of you said how GREAT it looked, do you think they could have pulled it off with a small hand full of after ww1 war made ww1 fighters?

Wouldnt happen.

So all things considered, the move was great.

I wouldn't say great, but not total schlock.

Seriously, who DIDN'T think Franco lag-rolling up beside the main bad guy German and blowing him away with his service gun wasn't totally bad-ass?

I thought there were a couple of good CGI shots, especially when considering CGI for historical airplane scenes is difficult. I liked the bombing run on the ammo factory at the end of the movie just cause its so cool to see the birth of strategic bombing. I also liked the scenes with the zeppelins.

But all in all a pretty good tale. I wish there were more WW-l flight movies.

How many Red Barons did they shoot down in that movie? Didn't see a single Albatros. Just shows how Hollywood goes for the flash and not content in making a War movie like that.

IIRC that was based on a historical incident, too. It might have been Frank Luke.

I thought flyboys was pretty cool to watch once.

Great film.  Reminds me that I need to go find a copy.  Ursula Andress was pretty hawt in that one.

And I bet I can tell you the scene of hers you remember the most.
The one where she is standing there with a towel over her shoulders just covering her tits

Blue Max is a great movie! :aok  Haven't seen it on the tube in years though. Was done back when George Peppard was building up his acting credentials. (The same creds he flushed down the toilet with "A Team" :( )

Only way to respond to that is with a quote from the movie.
