RAM Heatsinks
« on: March 11, 2009, 06:32:35 AM »
I was thinking about getting RAM heatsinks, does anyone know if there even worth getting, the ones I'm looking at are only $6, but I's still like to know if it's even worth getting?

I might even just get them to make the RAM modules look nice because my case has a window.

Nothing harmless with them.   They dissipate heat, which is the name of the game.

If the ram could use an upgrade, I just put some of these into a build and they look real nice.  The blue case fan reflects off of them causing a nice glow.

I seriously doubt you'll see any type of performance gain.  As to overclocking RAM it's hardly worthwhile... better off just starting with faster RAM.  If your CPU bus is 1333 you really don't need anything faster than 667 RAM to keep the clock cycles in sync.  If you plan on overclocking your CPU to a 1600 bus/400 clock you will still only require 800 RAM.
