New gun time!
« on: March 12, 2009, 04:34:31 AM »
Well the missus gave approval for a new toy. Basically I've been unable to bring intact bunnies home with the 223 so she approved the purchase of a 22 (or similar). I had a good look around at 22's, 22mags, 17hmr, 17hm2... and decided I like the Savage I already have so went Savage again.

It's a Savage Mk 2, 22lr, suppressed (yeah stick that up yer 8th amendment!), with an old 4-12x42AO scope I had lying around.

And my god I must say the Savage Accutrigger is awesome!

Savage's are a great rifle for the money. I've got a 110FP in .308 that is a real tack driver.

I've been driving to Dallas alot lately, so I think I'm gonna get me one of these -

I can make my .22LR suppressed as well for about 10 shots! Then I have to find another 2 liter coke bottle, duct tape and some steel wool.

Steel wool can actually catch on fire after a while. Try a 1" pipe with .25" fender washers, spacer rings... uh, never mind. :uhoh

Also, try 60gr subsonic ammo. ;)  A significant part of what you hear is the bullet shock wave.

Im waiting on a guy to buy my bow, as soon as he gives me the $$ im going to pick up a rem 700 VTR in .223    I just love that caliber,  flat shooting, good for most game, and yet cheep enough to have a ruckus weekend out at the ranch shooting till you and your friends are all def without going broke.

If you use .22 Shorts you dont need a "supressor".  Besides, are you sure that isnt a barrel weight instead.   :lol

It's really light. With .22lr sub's it's pretty much dead quiet. I have a suppressor on my 223 as well.

Wingnutt I love my 223 as well. It's a nice versatile round. With a suppressor on it it makes it a great 'varminting' rifle. Next rifle will be another savage, i'm totally sold on the accutrigger.
