Several of our Wednesday night study sessions became heated arguments regarding the free will - predestination thing.  It can be quite confusing on how a person can be predetermined and yet have the ability to choose.

A celibate clergy is an especially good idea, because it tends to suppress any hereditary propensity toward fanaticism.

IMO if religious posts are no-no topics, then i think posts that argue against religion should also be no-nos. How can one who has faith in God respond to someone who does not when it is against the rules.

Several of our Wednesday night study sessions became heated arguments regarding the free will - predestination thing.  It can be quite confusing on how a person can be predetermined and yet have the ability to choose.

That's because we have trouble understanding the time dimensional thing. The Bible says that God knew us before time began. So how difficult would it be that He knew who would choose him and who would not before we were born. We are instructed to spread the Gospel to the world not to try and convince people but to bring the saints (ones who would choose the Lord) into the light. Being predestined doesn't mean we were plucked out of a line up it means we are set aside, predetermined as you will to be part of God's plan . If you believe in the rapture then it isn't suppose to happen until the last person that will be saved is saved. Now if God doesn't know who will choose him and who won't how does he know who the last saved person will be.

I had someone ask me once after the tidal wave hit in the Pacific a number of years ago how God let some of those folks die unsaved when they may have become saved later in time. My answer was that those who died unsaved were never going to receive the Lord.

How in gods name is this thread still open?

To get back to the original post...I couldn't agree more.  That being said, the post itself is a bit of a catch 22.  Clearly a response is wanted, or it wouldn't have been posted in the first place.  However if someone responds, it will inevitably be on the nature of god...which according to the OP is futile.
* druski85 looks for both the "this thread won't end well" and the "the internet is serious business" pictures...  :aok
Also, what is that tugging at my lip?

I think the above question needs to be deposited into the "Mysteries of the Universe folder".   ;)

Well stated, but, their will be some who, after the rapture, become martyrs, and receive salvation. They will not be predestined, but saved none the less.
