262 books.
« on: March 13, 2009, 06:22:54 PM »
I dropped by the Airforce museum today to pick up this series of books. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.kitreview.com/reviews/images/me262bookreviewbg_1.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.kitreview.com/reviews/me262bookreviewbg_1.htm&usg=__CZUiDDiYibyRKspgF82M6R5dPfU=&h=489&w=640&sz=75&hl=en&start=1&um=1&tbnid=6M5ET1POqHtWNM:&tbnh=105&tbnw=137&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dme%2B262%2Bbooks%2Bby%2Brichard%2Bsmith%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1T4ADBR_enUS236US236%26sa%3DN%26um%3D1 Sadly they only had two of the four in stock :(. They have some excellent pictures with corresponding profiles here are a few examples.

Also it has a right hand view of Rudolf Sinner's JG 7 aircraft that was mentioned in another post.

Now this plane is ready made for AHII it had no swastika.

I have the whole series, an awesome set of books. The most comprehensive published work on the Me 262. I got the Volume 4 signed by Walter Schuck (JG5, JG7) and Hans-Ekkehard Bob (JG54, JV44) last weekend...

Great and funny Gentlemen and in very, very good health for their age! Bob at 92 is the oldest licenced pilot in the world. :)

Would be great to have more Me 262 skins. I'm especially missing one from JV44!

I too have this 4-volume set. They are the definitive work on the 262.  The David Baker book is also good.

Gents, which one or two of the series would be the best for resource material for different skins?

I have all four now the first one is of no use for skins in the game. Two three four are excellent I have most of the planes scanned to my pc profiles & photos.

Good as any spot to put this aircraft I guess.  :aok
Not sure who is doing any 262 skins at present? I thought this one looked unusual enough for inclusion. It was a photo recon aircraft that was converted to a fighter.

Thanks Lyric.  The late Clive Gosling was a Battle of Britain vet and later a service test pilot for Supermarine where he did much of the test flying on Spitfire XII which is how I got to know him.  Heckuva guy.  The photo I posted is one of three I got from him of Yellow 17.  He later after the war managed to track down the German pilot who he spent time with before his flight in Yellow 17.

His CO Wingco Schrader dropped the nose too fast on landing and put his 262 nose in the dirt.

Nice to see the other images and profile of Yellow 17
