Yep, but that'd be as fool-proof as you could make it, which is usually the best way to design anything freely distributed to general public :)

:lol Good point moot!

And if any of you can figure out how to do that with the Terrain Editor, I'm all ears. :)

You can do it the caveman way if you know the length of one tile. Divide it using a ruler stuck on your screen and go from there..  Get in top-down view mode to eliminate perspective distortion as much as possible.

Terrain tiles are 1 mile square, which is the only distance "marker" in the T.E.  So, setting up targets at 500, 1000, etc. meters is about impossible to get correct.  So unless someone can give us a 500 meter stick to use, it's a moot point. (Dang, I even made that one up all by myself). :D

On a serious note though, I really would have no idea how getting the exact distance could be achieved while in the T.E.. It just wasn't designed to deal with such things.  Just enjoy it for what it is or don't use it.  No thang.  Like I said, it was made for one player to use.  I just got a hair up my butt and decided to post it.

I see, there's no way to put objects anywhere else but at 1 mile intervals. That's too bad.

I don't understand.  Don't you place objects with the mouse?  If you do, you can figure out distances from the length of tiles. One tile = 1mile = 1,760 yards.  So half a tile is 880 yards. Half of that distance is 440yards. 1/2 tile + 1/4 tile distance= 1320y. 3.2K is approximately 1 tile + 1 half tile + 1/4 tile.  etc.
If you put a ruler or hang a piece of transparent plastic over your screen while in top-down view mode in the TE, and mark where those fraction distances are, you can then figure out where any specific range (to +- a certain error margin) is on a tile, write down on scrap paper what range an exact part of any tile corresponds to and then go into whatever other view mode you need to go (assuming you can't do everything while still in top-down, I think you can) and place the objects right on target :)

I'm pretty sure the ranges in the tank sights are in hundreds of yards.  32 = 3.2K = 3,200yards.

Ah, I assumed tank sights were in meters.

Adjusting the hardness for [BAT] seemed to affect only the two strange box trucks.  I upped my lethality against armor from 1.0 to 10.0 and still no change.  If I hit jeep, 251, M4, T-34, Tiger, I see an explosion but no permanent destruction.  Doesn't matter where I hit it either.  Same explosion, no ricochet rounds.
Haven't yet got through every single hardness setting.  I wish there was a key for the different abbreviations.

Is it possible to make all those ground targets into drones? That way, people can turn the icons off if they want to learn the range and can even check their answers (so to speak) by turning icons on.

Sadly, only HTC has the drones.  No access to em.  That sure would help. :pray
