We have a large display case here at work depicting past company programs. (OS2U, F4U, F7U <OK, so we're not so proud of that one>, F8U,A7, MLRS, ASAT). Can't find the word
vaught anywhere.

The V-173 (two XF5U's were built, bit neither flew) showed promise, being very strong structurally, maneuverable, and supposedly having very low drag due to the low aspect ratio wing and prop placement. But the program ran way over schedule, and coming at the beginning of the jet age, it really didn't have a purpose.
Would be cool to approach the CV at ~20 knots relative speed though.
