Gas grills?

Anyone have or used any gas grills? I finally got the 'green light' to purchase one and I was looking at the Webers, mostly due to them having such a nice rep.

Anyone have any suggestions? A side burner would be a huge plus...

Charcoal ONLY.  If you like weber (great name), check this one out.  It has a gas ignitor built in so you don't have to worry about lighter fluid or your fire going out.  You have four side burners in your kitchen where you won't get bugs, dirt and leaves in your beans.

I've had a Weber gas grill for about 10 years and it's still going strong. I've replaced a few parts, which are readily available at Home Depot, Lowes, etc. If you have natural gas to your house, you might want to consider a grill that's set up for it. I ran a gas line to my grill area with and inside and out side shut-off and hooked it to the grill with a flexible gas line. No more gas tanks to refill! I grill all year-round.

I would say Ducane, but Weber owns Ducane now.  My Ducane is 20 years old and has never had one issue in the 5 years I've owned it.
There's a market for used Ducanes. You just have to find them(Craigslist/shaftBAY).  Otherwise, I'd go with Weber.

Webber makes great pits. I'm sure their gas grills would be a quality purchase. Not that I'd ever buy a gas grill though. If your going to just cook with gas it is much cheaper to just do it in the kitchen. It'll taste just the same.

Some people can't eat food that has been cooked with charcoal.  But if you can, it tastes better cooked with charcoal.

Though I much prefer the flavor of charcoal over gas, gotta save I love the convenience of my gas...grill

gas grills are punishable by death around here but when you are in a hurry to do a few burgers or steak they are good.You just cant get the same results though.Be warned as you can only grill and not barbq.I had to teach a few yankees at work the difference.I have a barrel pit with offset firebox.Ibuilt one years ago in texas that got outa hand and had to put it on a trailer.That thing could do a whole side of beef.Has anyone done whole hog in the ground.Man that is the ultimate

Ok you charcoal aficionados, is cooking on a charcoal grill as easy as a gas grill? Is it as fast? I've never owned or cooked on charcoal unless it was in a pit.

The reason I am buying this grill now is that our kitchen is being gutted and I still want the ability to cook.

edit: that first line sounded rude, it wasn't meant to be.

Would it be worthwhile to get a cheap round kettle to later experiment with charcoal instead?

in your situation I would recommend a gas grill.The gas is faster and more convienent.You can get a decnt one at walmart with side burners and be like cooking on the stove.Before my old lady threw me out we had both.Use the gas for burgers steaks and such and charcoal for smoking and barbq.
