6-7 months out, somewhere between 12-18 months back, or more.  At this point, don't sweat it.  Just don't get married in between the day you get commissioned and the end of your first sea tour so you can enjoy the local scenery on port visits.   ;)

That's not really my worry. Ash knows (As harsh as this is) if she makes me pick between her and any military branch, she's getting the boot. I was just curious what a pilot and his bird do on shore.

Fly.  Lots of training on a daily basis.  Lots of qualifications to earn and to keep up to date.  Ultimately, look cool and pick up chicks while wearing your bag in the O Club, to the chagrin of all the non-bag wearing guys at the bar.

There are a couple of military pilots that play this game.  Mace is a Navy Pilot I believe, and Toonces3 used to fly P-3s.  If you ask around you can probably find some others.

I know this isn't that big of a deal for most of you, but for me, I nearly exploded. I finally got my first real step toward an Academy. The Air Force Academy is my first choice, but the Naval academy is my fall-back. I have yet to receive a response from the Air Force, but I had this e-mail waiting for me when I got home today:

"Dear Andrew Dinmore,

I am pleased to inform you that you have been selected to attend Session 1 of the Naval Academy Summer Seminar!

The purpose of this e-mail is to personally and promptly inform you of your acceptance and to allow the maximum amount of time for you to prepare for your trip to Annapolis.  No reply to this e-mail is necessary.  I will be sending you a registration packet containing more detailed program information from our offices shortly.

I look forward to seeing you on “The Yard” this summer!

Session 1: May 30th – June 4th

Session 2: June 6th – 11th

Session 3: June 13th – 18th

Very Respectfully,

John W.D. Meise

Lieutenant, United States Navy

Officer-In-Charge, NASS"

Like I said, I'm sure it's not much to most of you, but I'm damned sure proud of it!
Thats awesome Serenity, Annapolis is a very interesting place you will have fun if you plan on going, it will be hard though to get a fighter pilot spot though unless you are very sqaured away. Really consider this offer, if you become a pilot you will end up commanding a Carrier if you stick with the job.
