For the technical nuts among us here's what one horsepower actually means:

One horsepower = 550 ft-lbs/sec

So an engine that develops 2,000 horsepower is doing about 110,000 ft-lbs/sec of work. Gives you a whole new appreciation of horses, don't it?

Our largest technical-magazine made a decision to drop horsepowers from their charts and start using only kilowatts. In last issue they still used HP's they checked how much power a Finnish-Horse (Local work-horse) can give out. If remember right the answer was something like 25 or 26HPs in short time
