Need Ideas for upcoming 'MoM' Missions.
« on: March 22, 2009, 12:41:03 PM »
Ok I was planning on coordinating a Massive HQ raid for the next Bishop 'Mission of the Month' Mission. And I was thinking "what do the people want?"
So I’m gonna ask everyone.

What do you guys want the next Bishop 'MoM' Mission to be? Or do you guys want the next Bishop 'MoM' Mission to be a huge HQ Raid? And if so, do
you guys want Lancs or other types of Bombers?

Also Im looking for MoM Wing Commanders, to help plain and lead wings in these large missions. For more info please pm me.

Thank you guys.  :salute

Think outside the box.  Do what others don't to make them memorable.  Massed PT boats, Stukas, D3As, M-series vehicles, etc.  I'll take a mission that's fun and entertaining over one that is "successful" any day.

BTW, the BoPs have captured bases using only Stukas and only PT boats (with rockets), so it is possible.

List all interesting combinations (historical, interesting gameplay, etc). Sort them in order of fun/interest. Remove those that've already been done. Select next MoMs starting from the top.

Get four carriers gathered together into one big task group. Allow each carrier to roll the following complement:

36 Fighters
36 Dive Bombers
18 Torpedo Bombers

The numbers above are the maximums for each carrier. Torpedo bombers can arm themselves with bombs. The task group must split their fighters between escorting the bombers and providing CAP for the task group and can come no closer than a set distance from shore (say, 50 miles?)

If your doing bombers you need to have 24's, Lanc's, 17's, most people hate the Lancs guns so its better to have options.  Try doing some sort of distraction mission by a smaller group of guys, like send 10 jeeps and 10 Tigers into a zone base hootin and hollerin.

Use the Axis versus Allies Arena, nobody else does:confused:  You will not have Me 262s picking. You will have historically correct matchups, no Axis vs. Axis planes or visa versa.  Do a bomber mission for both sides.  Plenty of bases away from the regular player spawn points, so porking fields and strats should not give you any complaints from the regulars or CMs.

If the current map is still Tunisia (custom) it has way more bases closer together. :aok  Mother of all Missions :noid  has been a blast, keep up the good work. :salute

Give some earlier war planes a work! Even as Sax said, get a few carriers together and do a mass Naval bombardment and air attack. Announce that the attack will be coming, but keep the base a secret. You just need to hope there won't be spies that will switch and see where the CVs are forming up. Also need to get someone with a low rank to keep the CV's from people liek DrDeath. Give an hour or two to form the CVs up and get them side by side. Make sure to have all 3 (depending on the map, 4-6) cruiser front 8" guns manned for the naval bombardment of the base. To make it more fun try to pick a large air base to not shut down a base so easily. What I'm talking about here, I've never seen completely coordinated in the MA, ever.

Why not run an all Japanese port raid?

Up the two bombers that we have and the remaining aircraft as a mix of attack and escort.  Then proceed to pummel a port in to submission.. oh yeah, have an LTV role in FTW

OK so right now, the majority is for a Naval bombardment. I like that idea with the cv's. Please more.  :)

I disagree with moving the task groups close enough to use the cruiser 8"guns to bombard the target, though. That will put the CVs too close to shore. Again, TGs shouldn't be allowed within, say, 30-50 miles of shore

I think your "MoM" mission is a great idea, but I also agree that using the AvA for it is even better.

Think of it as an even far more realistic when plane sets are historic (actual), map is historic (actual) and run them with arena moderators just like FSO.

One of the problems with FSO, and it's impossible to please everyone, is the start time.  Many Central and Eastern Time Zone players have put in a tough week and are pretty bleary-eyed by 2200/2300 local.  Many European players are shut out entirely.  An earlier start time would mean those who normally miss out on FSO could easily make AvA MoM's.  Think about it...some 500+ players regularly participate in FSO and really look forward to the "as close as we'll ever get" realism.  If folks had that same feel and organization at an earlier time, even more people would probably want to participate.

I'm sure that if you got some folks together from all sides (not just bish) to help organize and get AH Staff to help with the maps, timing and mod (blue text) permissions it could morph into something extremely cool like FSO is.  Other than that, it's simply one side in LW MA getting 60 or 70 extra guys and pounding the snot out of some other side doesn't really prove anything.  FSO style missions with coordinated offense and defence does.  You can also probably get together with AH staff to get detailed after-event results so each side can tabulate their results and kills just like FSO.  That would be SWEET!

With that in mind, you just might have the next BIG AH thing!  Good luck!

I think that moving a CV within a sector of the enemy port and launching A6M2's, A6M5B's, B5N2's and D3A1's would be sufficient. You can launch N1K2-J's, Ki-67's and Ki-84-la's from a closer airfield and have all of them rendezvous with each other about half a sector or just out side the radar ring before they proceed over target, that is if the plane set came from the Japanese side of the war.

Once the land based aircraft have rendezvoused with the carrier based aircraft the CV can then be turned on the target as the target defenders will be busy dealing with the air threat and will probably offer little resistance to the CV group rolling in. After the the initial strike any person that is downed can easily up from the CV and continue an air cap over the target field/port. The CV should be close enough at this point to allow for the A6M5B's to take ordinance and pound the remaining targets while still giving them enough fuel to fly a medium air cap allowing us to park A few LVT(A)2's FTW while maintaining a few PT boats to add a bit ' O protection for the LVT(A)2's that do make it to shore.

I wonder what we would have to do to get HiTech to allow us to use the AvA arena a few times a week to carry these missions out? I think there are a bunch of us that would love something like this but can not attend the FSO or other neat little scenarios because of time restraints, something like could also be a bit of fresh air for many of us playing this game.

We need an arena where the map stays the same for at least a week, This would allow for offensive and defensive planning as we can create out plans using visuals and complete them at least a few days in advance so everyone participating on any particular side is up to speed with the rest of his/her crew!

Ok I will talk to HiTech about the AvA arena. And maybe this could be something like FSO; I would have to talk to Rook MoM Coordinator soon. And then that means I need a really good team to help coordinate these missions. Let me see what I can work out with HiTech.
