In my squad one of our members went on deployment out of the country.  Our CO facilitated sending him a lap top so he could continue playing with us.  Another member has helped me tremendously with a nasty divorce I am going through. <==== Just a couple examples... Anyone of our members can ask the either for help,  whether real life or in game.

You're right camaraderie has to be a main factor.  None of us are in competition with each other for leadership position or overall direction.  It is a democracy and we all enjoy harping on each other every now and then.  I really believe that I have a group or real life friends in my fictional hobby...  That rocks...  :rock

Yes, It's amazing how this simple video game can and has created so many lasting friendships between it's members. I don't think it happens on Xbox

There are probably many stories to tell of how people you've never met have reached out and and tried to helped in one way or another.

I'm not sure exactly what happened when WMLUTE lost his possessions to fire but I'm sure his squad was there to help. I remember the out pouring of sediment on these boards for many of the fallen or sick from perfect strangers and I'm sure things were done about those too.

While with the Aces I had the pleasure of meeting A8Balls who has one of the biggest hearts in the game. He's always willing to help his squad mates even if it comes out of his own pocket. I know he's paid for a couple of our members subscriptions when they were low on funds, myself included. We recently had A8WB pass, another great guy who will be soarly missed. Always a good word and quick to say hello. He lived in California and tried his best to use all of his contacts to help me find work here in Chicago when I could not find a decent job. He vouched for me knowing me only from this game. I'll miss his phone calls and friendly council.  :frown:

For some, this is much more than just a game, it's a community built on friendships, trust and honor.

Just my opinions really

I have the thought that a squad is there for friends.

When you have a group of guys who band up together you feel lighter than air even if its virtual. I play on and off now, I have a squad now the CLAIM JUMPERS. It really is my sort of squad, but I miss the old days of my flying career.

Because as a young kid of around 13 I ran into all kinds of players and one of the first guys I ran into was Botkins (AKA NanoCrew). LOL he was a squeaker in the major but so am I, but being around my own age group I became one of the core members. I usually took the squad when he was not on. But as a squeaker squad which was the term bestowed upon "The Crew".

Now Botkins and JohnnyJr we all agree were a pair of words I cannot mention. But through grabbing all the squeakers I filtered the good ones. 79Nerdie, Ruler2, MannyS and SgtShrif (84904). When we got together as the 95th RAAF NUKERS typing NUKE in capital letters whenever we landed was the fun part. Running NOE HQ raids in anything from B-24s to B25H's to even a 1 way in an IL2 and launching endless lanc hoardes of up to 200 lancs in the air. And yes we gained noteriety as "The DA Dweebs" who levelled A1 Knights in DA furball as the Teenage Terrorists SQUEAKING DEATH.

And since then I rarely see them on, Shrif and MannyS are GONE and 79Nerdie and Ruler2 are RARE.

But the point of my AH2 life story is to show, that AH2 is a few friends doing outrageous things and making complete oscar3$ of ourselves which is what we pay for.

A good squad will make you want to login to have good fun, secondary to do some team-play interaction, in arenas and in scenarios.
You also want to trust them helping you when you need it , giving 6-calls, and to be good enough sticks.

good banter, fellow countrymen,  fearless leaders,  once you've saved each others backsides on numerous occasions you become brothers.

flying with people who understand air combat, appreciate it and love the whole history behind WW2 make it much more enjoyable than toddling around on your lonesome.
Keep away from my backside thank you very much :old:

An enjoment of the "amber liquid" in social settings  - I mean that in all seriousness - many a time various of our squad has had the occasion when on the road to cement squad bonds with a pint or 2 with other members they are passing by - sometimes to excess   :lol

...in a nut shell - Camraderie is a big part of a squad.

.....cheers eh! :D
