Killing Troops
« on: March 25, 2009, 08:09:03 PM »
If you kill troops on an airfield or GV base you cant take troops to capture a base.  Should it limit the amount of airplanes taking off too?  They all look like pilots after all..... :noid
They call it "common sense", then why is it so uncommon?

Offense / defense

Offense kill troops can't do squat for base taking from that field.

Defense same

for OPFOR

Same on both accounts.

It already exists just not on the plane / GV level.

How many times have you heard on vox from armchair general boot straps Betty (no offense) kill troops at ......

Hmmm............. :frown:  Maybe it is time for another base capture system all together.

Something about destroying barracks and churches or strafing paratroopers to capture / avoid capture of an airfield that doesn't sit well with me.

Alternative capture:
  • capture flags from various control points and return them to the maproom
  • capture flags from various control points and return them to indestructible church  :pray
  • use troops to rebuild towns (defend) or keep towns down(attack)

I tend to like to look upon troops as Infantry / Commando's / Marines etc

For me if a base has no troops it has no offensive or defensive foot soldiers.

Obviously then they cannot be used offensively to capture other bases but for me they should be rendered ineffective (barracks destroyed) prior to any base being capturable.

For me the use of "towns" is a misnomer actually the map room should be associated with large numbers of barracks (troops) which once 50% destroyed removes  offensive capability and when 100% destroyed removes all defensive capability.

Supplies could be linked to hangers and the resources of the origin field (fuel ammo etc)

and why do troops all run single file? I am sure COAD could exist to get them to run more random weaving formations to the map room.

Im against disabling troops at all when the barracks are destroyed!

Obviously, the troops won't be inside when their base is being attacked  :aok

But they will be busy elsewhere and not available to jump in an M-3 or C-47.

Is there an OC on an airfield?  If you are ever lucky enough to be spinning around in god mode and end up in a barracks, its full of pilots with coffee cups.  Which led to this post.

Pilots would rather be in the O'Club with alcohol than with the enlisted men drinking coffee.
