The russian bear travelling again
« on: March 26, 2009, 03:40:51 AM »
Yup.
Yesterday afternoon F16's were scrambled from airbase Keflavik to say hello to a Russian bomber, - the bear.
This is frequent, and some European airforces do this all the time.
This time there is a video:http://forsvaret.dk/FKO/Nyt%20og%20Presse/INT%20OPS/Pages/PressemeddelelseIsland.aspx
click on the "se viedeoclip". The text is in Danich, those were F-16's from the Danish airforce.

It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

Our f16's scramled 10 times in jan/feb alone to say hi to russian bears and backfires. Its good to see the russians are flying again. Last year they were up all the time and this year will be no different.

Way better to have them up and flying in good spirits then to have grumpy russians sitting around all day trying to figure out a way to make a living by selling their gear all over the place.

Ill take a happy, well fed russian soldier with good training over a grumpy, hungry and angry russian any day.

But they demonstrate the operations of an Ejection Seat so well!

Hey I like it when we have grumpy russian soldiers trying to find ways to sell their gear.  I'm trying to get a case of Levi jeans.  I've got my eye on a Su-47 or maybe a Mig-144

Notice howbig the aircraft is with the F-16 trailing it.
Anyway, they were "turned around" it said. 100 km from the country.
Must be a boring job....

Sometimes overly so as they suffer from premature evacuation.

Nah, I'll get me 262 rockin... I say let 'em cross into airspace... then the fun begins. ;)

I don't get the press now, if you ask me, it's a scare tactic...

Scare tactics = ratings

It's been going on forever.  It just seems more prevalent now.
