That's definitely true, and it holds up for things like RAM as well. There are a very small number of manufacturers that actually produce things like LCD panels and RAM chips - However, that being said, your high-quality brands will purchase these chips from the manufacturer within tighter tolerances. So, your Samsung monitor and your Daewoo monitor may have the exact same LCD panel housed inside - but the Samsung is likely a higher quality LCD from a different batch. This means that the "lesser brands" are more hit and miss in terms of quality. Are you a gambling man? (I am, my Benq and Daewoo monitors are excellent.)
