God I loved dodgeball as a kid... It was the only thing we would play at recess... Now it's been banned at my old elementary because some kid fell down. Load of crap IMHO

We didn't play dodge ball at my school we played "wall ball" (I don't know if its called anything else). We would have about twenty or more guys standing about 25-35 feet away from a wall. The group would have two or three tennis balls that would be thrown against the wall. The object of the game would be to try and catch the ball after its bounced off the wall. If you get hit by it, drop it, or skip the ball on the ground before it hit the wall when you throw it you would have to run as fast as you can and touch the wall. If you did do one of those the guys with the balls had the opportunity to peg you while you were running to the wall. Thing was if you threw it at the kid that was running and miss you yourself would have to make the run. It was always fun to peg your buddie in the back of the head. This wasn't a "gym sport" we would always bring our own balls and play out of sight of the coaches since there was always one little wuss that would go crying to the coach when they got "hurt". After a while the principals got fed up and started sending people to IHS (In House Suspension) when they caught us playing. IMO way better then dodgeball since tennis balls hurt like hell when you get hit from almost point blank range in the head or back.  :D

I used to play a variant of that in grammar school.    Same game but if someone got tagged 3 times on the way to the wall they were "out", and the game was over.  At that point that guy had to stand face first to the wall, and everyone playing got one free throw at him.

Reminds me of when I was back in high school. We used to play a game called "Murderball".

I watched a show called Wreckreation Nation had a segment on the dodgeball championships in Denver.  At first I though it was going to be weird seeing a bunch of middle age people playing a kid's game but by the end of the show I wanted to get in there and play.  Some of those guys are throwing the ball at over 700 mph.

Practice dodging wrenches..because if you can dodge a wrench...

Did I mention I used to play a game called Murderball?

Kids need an outlet and the people that in charge are too danged PC for their own good.  Nothing like a good game of dodgeball to free a kids mind.

Man, in elementary, we would play WallBall (also known as BloodBall for the blood that leaked off our bodies when slammed against the rock walls.) where the dodgers would stand infront of a wall, and the throwers would throw balls at us, while we prayed that we could dodge enough. The poor kids were the dodgers, rich kids the throwers. Thanks to those tards, I can now dodge fastballs and punches with a passion. Elementary at a rich kids school was a joy.

Hehe Bodhi hockey is still around ain't it.  They need to make this part of school again.  Might get more kids playing outside again.

In gym last year we had dodgeball all the time.  It was great and everyone looked forward to it.  There's nothing like pegging that idiot you hate in the face :).

I stay active playing different outdoor sports through the year, softball, water skiing, football, etc, I thought about getting involved with Dodgeball, At 40 yrs old I still have a pretty good arm and just love the sound that ball makes when you ping someone with it...  :lol  There are several teams in this area and it seems to be growing to be a popular sport.

Anyone out there play on one of these team leagues?  Doesn't seem to cost much more than joining a Softball league, is there any hidden costs or expenses that you will have to fork up for travel?
