The joy of teaching nephews the greater things in life
« on: March 30, 2009, 09:20:32 AM »
About a decade ago had one of my brothers visit.  He taught our teen (who was then just about 4) all the finer points of spitball slinging while we were eating at the local restaurant.

Just had another brother come visit.  Suddenly my boys know all the intricacies of fart-lighting.

I'll be buying drums ASAP.  Neither of my brothers are married yet, but I'll let those things sit in the garage until their first child's 2nd birthday.  By then I may have added cymbols and a kazoo.

Pfft my uncles didn't teach me anything cool like that.  They taught me things like what happens when you pull the stick off a bottle rocket and how to whip fireworks at people. :devil

My uncles tried to teach me how to pick up a potato on hotel street, and how to fail a breathalyzer AND get arrested for assault. Not the greatest guys in the world...

My uncle taught me the rudimentary basics of HTML and C. The middle uncle taught me to backflip on motel beds, and that you CAN open car doors on the highway. The last taught me how to properly make GOOD mashed potatoes without adding butter. Now, with my aunts, that is a WAY different story. One taught me to quilt, and the other taught me to stockpile my hens on the 4th, pile the gunpowder in a pinata, and run for cover.

Growing up as a kid, I had an Uncle that was really creative with paper..  He taught me how to make a paper-dart blow gun..
This thing had a range of about 15 meters (around 70 ft I think) if the darts were made correctly...  You had to use your own spit
to seal the tip as anything else would've weighed the tip down too much..  Properly constructed, they would fly through the air and it
would hurt a little if one hit you..  We would go to construction sites and steal 1.5cm plastic pipe to blow the darts out of..
While on vacation in Bucharest, there was a motorcade that we went past carrying Nicolae Ceausescu.  Without knowing who it was,
we blew our darts into his car..  My parents freaked out and we stayed at my grandmothers in the village for a few days as they were
terrified of the Securatate'..
I like classy, beautiful, intelligent woman that say the "F" word a lot....

Reminds me of what I used to do as a kid with my parent's manger scenes during Christmas time. I'd shoot spitballs at the manger scene until the entire enviornment was swimming in gooey paper balls. Also shen I was real young, I'd have my GI Joes 'take out' everyone in the manger in a lightning raid and march the remainder (that lived through the assault) into the kitchen where I sacrificed them to the 'Sand Pit Monster' seen in StarWars. Unfortunately for the manger crew, the garbage disposal was a lot more efficient and destructive.

A few years later when I had finally learned how to fold paper airplanes I used to dip them in gasoline and have dogfights with burning airplanes. Well, I guess some things haven't changed!  :rofl
