Reality isn't AH.  THe B25H was such a bad bomber destroyer platform that it never occured to real pilots to use it this way against real bombers in real war conditions.

As far as getting hit at 1.5k, I've been pinged out that far before (I'm not even surprised when it happens anymore), and I get pinged at 1k all of the time, even by 'average' gunners... this is flying above the bombers or on my way out trying to set up another pass, not just sitting behind them, either.

I'm just hammering it in for the less lucid.

Average gunners hitting you from 1K - You've got to curve your trajectories to spoil their shot.  The only time I get hit doing this is when I'm below 300IAS, e.g. on the slow "exit" from a zoom up to point blank on a bomber's belly.  I reckon the BK5 has "999" written on it.
