Why oh why?
« on: April 01, 2009, 12:39:18 AM »
I logged on tonight for one sortie for the first time in a week or so.

Me on four on the deck with more piling in and I get HO'd.  wtf.

And don't even try to tell me I could have avoided the HO.  When the odds are that stacked it takes everything you've got just to avoid a fatal shot.

What a BS arena/game.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

If i was in a low furball with several other cons i would take the face shot if i had it too. You dont let that opportunity go unless you want the express way back to tower yourself  :salute

Either deal with it, or give us an "i quit" message  ;)

The rooks had so many 'starved for kills' individuals in one sector that an egress meant a fifteen minute fight to get rid of the stragglers hanging on to any visible sign of a target. Hilarious when you consider how a certain individual has singled out bish as the horde of all hordes and the recent appearance of 'should I kill or not' threads.

See, you're an old hand. You know that if 1 comes at you, he's DEAD 99.9% of the time, 2 95%.

It is fun to be the cat playing with the mouse isn't it? And frustrating when the inevitable pwnage you are handing out through ACM magic is denied by the realities of multi-bandit combat.

Well, anyhow, I don't have any good answer for you for a 4-5v1, except to accept the fact that the MAs are no longer a 1-3v1-3 type environment, it is a horde v. horde environment where you constantly face unknown numbers, E-states, and types, and must struggle to fly accordingly.

We all know you're not going to cancel your account just because once in awhile a large enough horde of mice manages to get the cat...

"Crikey, sir. I'm looking forward to today. Up diddly up, down diddly down, whoops, poop, twiddly dee - decent scrap with the fiendish Red Baron - bit of a jolly old crash landing behind enemy lines - capture, torture, escape, and then back home in time for tea and medals."

Shooting someone in the back is the act of a coward. Anyone who has ever seen a western movie knows this  :aok  ;)

I think if HTC had 15 bucks for every "They HO'd me" wah wah threads they would probably cancel the $15.00 sub fee.

You were in a 5v1, did you really expect it to be a 1v1 style fight? Could you not see that those 5 people were all trying to beat each other for the kill? Why you even think about dropping in to that situation? That in itself shows bad situational awareness so as far as the situation goes you got what you deserved.

Tuesdays are now an 'Unlimited-Aircraft' event which you should decide ahead of time how to approach. On the upside in large numbers (as everyone learned in WWII) there are so many eyes in each group (and every one of them is thinking 'someone will see any danger') that no one is actually looking. No one gives check six calls so only those with great SA will see attacks and it is easy to score kills.

The downside is that not everyone can get a kill and so many people go hungry and become starved for a kill. Also if you are used to remaining low there will be great numbers to greet you and if you jump in on the middle of a conga line to clear someone then there will be check sixes and again you will be ganged.

Bombers tend to fly higher where they are harder to catch so they also stay out of the hordes reach.

During peak hours even the server starts to have problems and the radar gives unreliable information. The center of the map for instance never has an accurate dar bar.

In a many vs. 1 type of dogfight, those on the superior side do compete with each other for the kill. There can be only one. The HO is the quickest mean of achieving this, it has to be timed right though. But those kind of hordlings have surley no idea about proper timing, so it turns into pure gambling, may the luckiest one get the kill (or collie for that matter). On the other hand, if those guys could do some ACM, which of course they can't, it would take too much time to set it up correctly - in the meantime 3 others had thier HO attempts and probably finished the job.

Great times indeed.

Small correction.  It isn't horde v. horde, it's horde vs 2 or 3 defenders. :lol

This surprises you on Titanic Tues? IIRC this sort of game play was one of the primary reasons the arena caps were imposed a few years back.
