Jumping Frame Rates

The other day my G Force 7950 took a crap.  I had to reinstall the original G Force 8300 gs.  Since then my frame rate has gone nuts.  I can not hardly GV anymore because the frame rates drops  when ever I get around fires or other players.  With the 7950 my frame rate was rock solid around 70, now it jumps from the low twenties to well over a 100. 

I set the settings for the 8300 the same as the 7950.  That didn't work so I just had to go with the performance slider and that gave me the best frame rate, but it still jumps like crazy.

I use AlacrityPC to cut down the processes when playing.  I have checked for viruses and the system shows to be clean.  I use Auslogics to clean the system.  I have loaded older drivers, that didn't work.

I don't mind getting another video card, but I do not want to go to the trouble of changing the power supply or installing fans in this system since I plan on having a gaming computer built in the future.

The 8300GS is significantly slower than the 7950.

1)  Set the game resolution to 1024x768.
2)  Set the "Maximum Texture Size" to 256, no higher.
3)  In the game, set the sliders in the GUI preferences towards performance (try the defaults first).

Skuzzy those settings worked like a champ.  Solid 75 frame rate in GV's.  Of course the graphics are fairly crappy, but for now I can live with that.  I rather have the frame rate.

My next question, based on the information of my previous post, what video card can I update to where I can get better performance without having to resort to increasing the power supply or install fans?

You will want to pose that question in the "Hardware and Software" forum.  I cannot make any recommendations.

I will say it boils down to the power supply as to what video card it can support.

This is a perfect opportunity to say "Stay away from hordes and your frame rate should be fine  :D " but instead...

42 processes is way to many, you should be able to cut that in half. As for a video card, why not just replace it with another 7950? If you were happy with that one, go for it for now, you could even use it in the new build until you can kick in big bucks for a monster card later.

Don't know about the horde thing.  Don't judge by the squad, rarely will you see me in a horde, but at time like everyone else I do partake.   :D

I thought about the 7950, I was just wondering if there was something a bit better that my system can handle.
