ATI RADEON HD4670 512MB Not sure how good this card is but I was maxed out with cash.... I posted this a couple weeks ago on the oclub forums did not realize this forum was here   My current pc works great for aces high ,but I play other games as well.. I also have a invidia 7950 gt in this pc I can put in the new one...What do u all think

You should have stopped here first.  We could have coached you through building it yourself for a lot less $ or building a much better machine for the same amount.

Anyway, the 4670 is a good card.  No problems with that.

well the thing out performs everything out there so far and the price was right well I had a top of the line quad core on the table but didnt touch this and for 1000 bucks plus no finance for 12 months and 24 inch hd monitor were was i gonna save ?

The biggest difference with these things from Dell or Gateway, of which I've had several, is twofold. First, you have to deal with their proprietary crap, which is a huge pita when it comes time to upgrade and expand later. Secondly, they just tell you the stats of the stuff, but you have to really dig around to find out how good those components really are they put in there. During my self-build process I quickly realized all memory, MBs, Video Cards, etc., may have the same stats, but they are definitely NOT created equally. There's X58 i7 boards that are total crap and those that are excellent, and some that are OK, but have a serious flaw or two that may or may not bite you in the arse now or later. The same is true of the memory and the video cards.

Dell, or Gateway for that matter, wants to sell you a package by dazzling you with the overall, but general performance credentials. The quality of the components actually "under the hood" is generally the cheapest they could get away with putting in there without getting sued for false advertising. Dell is also famous for underpowering its rigs, they put the bare minimum power supply in there and its often a slim fit, proprietary slot it goes into, so it's both a pita and relatively expensive to rectify later with only limited options. They also tend to seriously skimp on other important future expandability & upgrading considerations, preferring you to buy a completely new computer from them instead (I know it's shocking)...

DL 3DMark06  when you get your box... I will do a i7 920 for about the same budget (NO THIS WILL NOT BE FOR SALE) and I bet mine will out score yours by at least 1/3 at stock speeds and crush it overclocked.  IMHO you can not build a decent i7 for less then 1300 ~ 1500.  Have to use Tri Channel memory with good timings and these ARE POWER HUNGRY processors... have to have a good PSU.

Good luck with it.  1000 dollars with a monitor is a great pricepoint, with the financing package is good also if this is what your budget allows.  This will play AH maxed out i am sure.

i used to build my gaming boxes like alot of other people in here.  I got tired of doing this and ordered a box from Tildeath, I cannot wait to get it.  I hope there are good quality components and a decent upgrade path if that is what you intend on doing in the future.

well if its garbage ill send it back and tell em to stick it up there @#!$^@!  This is my second dell I am responding on the first with no problems in almost 3 years....This pc now has played every game I have asked it to until recently...So I hope I luck out again

It better play it maxed out this pc I have now plays it maxed to the hilt and never drops below 75 fps no matter what

That "Rig" itself does not outperform everything out there... if it did builders all over would be out of business.  The i7 does outperform most everything out there.  Again to see how it really performs, DL 3DMark06 and get a score.  I am betting it is in the 13 to 15k range.  This number will allow you to play about everything out there, but I am building E8400's that score about 15k.  A 920 should score 19k or above.  If not there is a bottle neck on the board somewhere.

I'm sure you will be happy with it.  As I and others have stated you probably could have done better but that said, I own a 10 year old Dell that's been through numerous upgrades and has never given me one minute of non self-induced problems and it's still running in everyday use (although limited use).  I'm in the process of turning it into a file server for my network and it's likely to run another ten years in that role.

Yea, don't get me wrong either. I have owned a dozen Dells and Gateways over the years. They are perfectively fine for certain things. But, don't expect them to be equivalent to something designed specifically for a high demand role. Anyone with with a bit of thought could put together a system that would grind an equivalent Dell or Gateway into the ground for similar money. Those computers are not designed to be the "way of the future". They are designed to be a decent computer right now, nothing more or less. Just make sure you know what role you want for it, now and later and don't hold to unrealistic expectations or you'll be disappointed.

Wow either you upgraded every single component in the computer except the chassis or you have a timebomb in your hands. I don't trust any hardware that's older than 3 years. PSU capacitors can blow any second for example after 10 years of use which can mean mains voltages directly to your hardware.
