Never land a 262 on a CV.
« on: April 04, 2009, 11:05:31 PM »
Well i was protecting a port when alot of Lancs come overhead. So i up a 262, get to the scene kill 1 Lanc and follow some more that are RTB. While following the Lancs I see 2 sets of 24's. I dive in, kill one but he gets one of my engine oils. I dive in again but this time he gets one of my engines and the others oil and now i have a pilot wound. So i hit the deck and run. The Airbase is too far to make it so i have to land on the CV, i follow regular CV landing procedures but am to fast and i over shoot, When i turn my 1 engine on i start spinning thinking to my self *i know this would end bad* and i die.

go offline and practice landing a 262 on a cv. It's possible, real hard thought. The way I did it, was i actually stalled my plane a few feet over the cv.

Acutally it's possible when you want to put em down really bad. Like landin on a cv w/ 1 engine or just glidin it in. It's really fun.

Don't do it with your gear down, slide in. Like mbailey said, you need to stall your plane out right before you touch down to kill speed

+1  ,  when i said to a squaddie the other day i'll land this on a CV he was quite surprised thinking it couldnt be done,

I breeze in  get her down, whip it around on the spot with one engine to prove a point.   If you havent got the perks to waste on a 262 you shouldnt be upping one  :aok,

make sure you grab control so no-one turns it at an unfortunate moment.

noob.

I had 750 perks at the time and had been landing kills 5+ on some sorties.  :rock

I thought I said that  :furious  :uhoh  lol

oh and BTW, if your stalling your 262 to land on a CV, you want to keep your gear down, because it will be a hard landing. If your gear is not down....well....in best case scenario you will brake your wings off.

It's simple to land, it's harder to rearm and take off. normally when I'm done I'll land w/o gear, but if I need to re-arm it's a bit trickier. You need the full length of the deck and then some to get off the ground, and with 100% fuel it's literally impossible.

More fun with a 234.  Takes forever to get enough speed to retract flaps. :D

Now that's a plane where I have fun rearming it and taking back off, but sadly, I normally have to use my RATOs on takeoff. :(
