Actually I believe only one of thous was made, and it was used to test the jet engines.

They're ramjets. Roll rate would SUCK, and you're screwed if both don't stay lit. :uhoh  Not to mention two different fuels and fuel systems. You're better off in the stock pony.

I've caught 262s in Typh's before...you don't need a jet to do it.

I've been caught in my jet by a zero before and killed.  As long as the 262 has good SA, nothing can catch one.

Done by Marquardt Corporation:

Marquardt's first products were wind tunnels, but by the end of their first year they had delivered an experimental 20 inch (0.51 m) ramjet to the United States Navy for testing. The United States Army Air Forces purchased two of the same design early in 1946, and fitted them to the wingtips of a P-51 Mustang fighter for in-flight testing. By this time the Navy had fitted theirs to a F7F Tigercat and started flight tests in late 1946. Later Navy tests fitted the same engine to a P-83 and F-82 Twin Mustang.

Google Marquardt Corp. for more info. :salute

Of non-262s, I'm betting that the Pony has collected more 262s than any other fighter (probably a lot died to bomber guns too).  The typical scenario is a 262 jocky who got low and slow, and a Pony with a lot of altitude shows up on the scene and can pick up more speed diving on the 262 than the 262 has, or can quickly get, and the 262 gets pwned.  I'm familiar with this scenario, from both sides.  Arg.

Speaking of which, a few weeks ago I was in a Yak 9T and looked down to see a 262 several thousand feet below me, fairly low and fairly slow.  I dove down got on his six, and he was starting to get away from me speedwise when I put a 37mm tater into him from around 700 yards out.

Depends on the situation. In a average scenario, a 262 should at least keep 5k of alt beneath him incase he picks up a diving bandit. Nothing is gonna catch a 262 already at 450+ and in a shallow dive from 5- Deck level unless the 262 is a bit slow on the airspeed.

I think its probably the guy who jumps the 262 after he makes his evasive move from the pony who gets the kill most times :salute
