I read the transcripts.

A couple of things.

As someone who did radio for 26 years, there are some things you just DON'T do.

If the celeb's publicist (press liason) tells you NOT to go somewhere in advance of the interview DON'T go there.  From what I have heard, the CBC radio guy was politely asked NOT to get into BB's acting career and focus solely on the band and why BB was in Canada to begin with.  The interview was to get interest in BB's country music band for their scheduled gigs in Canada.  It was a morning show so first off, at 6:30 AM, BB is not going to be in the best of moods anyway, so experience says follow the publicist's recommendations (which is what BB expects) and don't torque BB off.

Right off the bat, the interviewer goes against the celeb's wishes and BB starts to get testy.  After that, he just goes to one word answers.

If this CBC guy was trying to do what he did for his own audition demo material--he screwed up bigtime.

The botched interview turned fans off and led to the cancellation of BB's bands Canadian leg of their tour with Willie.

While BB could have easily headed the interviewer off (and tried) he does have to blame himself for offending Canadians during and after the interview.

I started watching it.....realized he was being a dork.

Can't figure out why he had the attitude he did.

I've always considered BB as being little odd. As for this interview, he does seem little bit out of it as if he is hung over or something else.

lol, Billy Bob Thornbuckle called Canadian audiences mashed potato's without the gravy, referring to their behavior (or lack thereof) during his performances.

The Billy Bob Band has just announced they are canceling the rest of their gigs supporting the Willie Nelson Candian tour because "one band member and some of the crew" came down with the flu.  Sure  :aok

Lets not forget that if it wasn't for his acting he wouldn't be in the position he is in now. So for him to say don't ask me about my acting, is a bit stupid since that is what he is. Thats what the people listening are gonna want to hear about.

Celebs get quirky as time goes by.  Van Halen insisting that they get large bowls of M&Ms backstage without one certain color, actors demanding that their on-location trailer be bigger than anyone elses, etc.  And when they get interviewed, they have certain requirements and topics that they want "off limits".

Example:  I was interviewing Kevin Cronin of REO Speedwagon once and up front I was informed NOT to bring up the band's drug use and drug problems from the past (a topic I covered with hilarious results with Ann Wilson of Heart--but that's another story).  I never said a peep about it but Kevin must have said "we're staight and sober and are ready to put on a great show tonight" about 12 times, but I never said a word out of respect to Kevin and his pre-interview wishes.  I can assure you if I had I probably would have heard a dialtone and gotten some personal chin music from them that night on stage.

Did listeners want to hear about it?  Probably.  They're celebs and people like to hear the seedy side, but it's respect to not tread over the line you have been specifically given.

BB is quirkier than most.  When he lived a few miles from me with Anjolina, they had a retired death row electric chair in their home.  He and AJ carried small vials of each others blood on a necklace.  Knowing that background and that BB has a tendancy to be testy should have told that Canadian interviewer to NOT cross the lines he was given.  Since the guy is already a film star--that's more than yesterday's news.  To my knowledge he's not even out on the stump promoting a new film...so if there's somebody out there not already aware he's a film star---help them to find a way out of the cave.

Stars don't have to do interviews.  When they do, and if the people interviewing them DON'T respect their wishes...they sure don't deserve respect in return.

The thing is, BB showed how much a a nut job he is in the way he acted when he could have simply said "I want to talk about the band and the music we are doing". Instead he insults the Canadians and probably screws up getting much of a fan base in Canada with his remarks. So I don't blame the jock. BB did it all himself.
