RCTiger.com driving toy tanks via the internet
« on: April 11, 2009, 09:23:28 PM »
rctiger.com is a web-based Flash game in which you drive a RC tank in the real world against other toy tanks. The game itself is a great leap forward in game design and concept, but seeing as you keep track of your tank through a turret-mounted webcam, don't expect instant response from the tank. (Being based in germany dosen't help matters much for those of us on this side of the pond)

I urge you to try it as soon as you have time.

I however, am having trouble with the website. When I go to the main page at www.rctiger.com the browser fails to connect, but using google to get to OTHER pages on the site works just fine. I tried IE8, IE7, and Firefox on my PC. using Windows XP, yadda yadda. Interestingly, my BLACKBERRY had no problem getting to the website, despite not having Flash. This leads me to think it has something to do with my firewall.

Anyway, check it out. It seems to have some great potential.

Remember, we're talking internet-to-rc toys-to-webcam-to internet-to-flash player

Don't get your hopes up too high.

Also, they're based in Germany. You probably aren't. Lag problem solved.

I live next to Germany and I can assure you the lag problem is not distance but their technique. Plus the turret control didn't work. Plus turret was stuck sideways making steering impossible etc etc.

A nice idea from someone but badly implemented.
