anyone know how to go into windows or bios and check why these wouldnt work?They appear tp beconnected to the mother board correctly and the rear jack work just fine....

Seems to be a fairly common problem, esp with onboard sound.
No clue on fix here, maybe someone else will have more info.

I had the same problem with my last computer, but in reverse, it was my rear mic jack that didn't work, but my front one did, it was a Dell.

yeah....
I ahhh after reading here ofter learned onboard sound EATS CPU cycles...
I bought an inexpensive cound card VIOLA....
I am running so much better...
And it is all about me of course....
Skuzzie meister helped me out there.....
