I'm trying to find the name of a WWII movie. The problem is I only saw a short part of it and I saw it a long time ago. However it's one of those things that keep popping into my head like an old song.
Anyway, the movie was British and from the look (B&W), it was probabbly made in the 50s. Here's the scene -
A small group of regular British infantry are walking through a field in France during the Blitzkrieg. They are apparently the remainder of a some part of the expeditionary force. They see a group of trees and decide to make for cover. In the trees they find a British artillery unit. They just start talking to the artillery officer when a spotter says they have a German column moving up some road they are covering. The artillery opens up and the spotter reports they hit the column. The artillery officer then tells the infantry soldiers where the British are regrouping and to get away quick, since dive bombers will be coming. The infantry soldiers leave but keep looking back over their shoulders at the artillery unit until all they can see are the trees, but they can still hear the artillery firing. The last part of the scene is where the infantry soldiers suddenly hear the sound of Stukas diving, then several explosions, then planes flying away, then nothing. You never see the planes or what they did, but the soldiers just stare for a minute, then turn around walk off.
Any idea?? If the rest of the movie is a good as that one part, I'd like to see it.
