How exactly did I defend "out and out cheating"?

Reviewing your responses in this thread leads me to believe that you possibly misinterpreted my posts but I am sure you will explain it all very soon.

You seemed to totally reject the concept of stealing a kill. This would presumably include out-and-out shooting an airplane someone else has de-winged airplane to get the kill. I consider this up there with vulching a second account as far as foul methods of score-padding go. Then there are less clear situations, but just because things get a bit foggy sometimes doesn't mean there should not be a standard.
"Crikey, sir. I'm looking forward to today. Up diddly up, down diddly down, whoops, poop, twiddly dee - decent scrap with the fiendish Red Baron - bit of a jolly old crash landing behind enemy lines - capture, torture, escape, and then back home in time for tea and medals."

I must really be missing something. Who really cares about the DA, its there for a duel. Hence DA, or am I missing something. I go there for maybe a warm up, but thats about it. Or a duel, or a squad scrimmage, but really Im curious, I've seen so many posts on the DA, are there people that actually give a chit, or did I miss something.  :huh
Forgot who said this while trying to take a base, but the quote goes like this. "I cant help you with ack, Im not in attack mode" This is with only 2 ack up in the town while troops were there, waiting. The rest of the town was down.

Yes, I totally reject the notion that you can somehow steal a kill. There is no ownership therefore there can be no theft.

But then I am a big believer in taking personal responsibility for things. This is how I view it. My goal is to kill the bandit quickly and to kill him dead. If I don't do it quickly enough and someone else does it for me then he should be rewarded for his expeditious flying. If my aim is inaccurate and I do not score rounds into the head of the pilot, causing instant death then I am wide open to another pilot, with better aim, putting rounds on target and that target is ALWAYS the enemy pilot's head.

If you believe that the fact you chased a bandit or put less than lethal fire downrange entitled you to ownership then you are free to feel that way, but that doesn't make it cheating when someone else finishes what you started. Yes, that even includes people that fire on obviously out of control wreckage. There is absolutely no way to rationalize that into "cheating".

My squad trains to neutralize the bandit and then move on to the next target without unnecessarily pursuing a bandit that is going to die. And if someone else dives in on a bandit we have left for dead, more power to them.

And mechanic is right, I was referring to where you derive enjoyment. If the ONLY important or fun part of simulating air combat is credit in the kill buffer then I can understand the frustration one might have with the game. If you can derive fun from the process AND the result or even better the process alone then the game is much more enjoyable.

And I am now laughing at those who post that the DA is meaningless. I have a news update. It is all meaningless beyond the pleasure one derives from it. DA, MA, Events and everything else. No deeper meaning or value to society.  If it isn't fun, please don't play the game.

If the bandit is wing-less or tail-less, he is going into the ground, that is inarguable. He is no threat, and the kill is going to be awarded to the guy who de-winged him or de-tailed him. The only purposes of shooting at the wreckage can be to steal credit to pad your score. Not only do I call it cheating, I consider it worse than vulching a second account. At least when people do that, they are not really taking anything away from someone else.

If you don't want anyone to shoot at your "wreckage" then aim for a pilot kill. And missing parts, even parts as large as a wing is no guarantee the bandit is out of the fight in Aces High. Just yesterday I knocked the right wing off a tempest and he maneuvered well enough to get rounds on me on the overshoot. I was certainly glad another friendly finished the job I didn't have the accuracy to complete. I'd prefer to thank the friends that are cleaning up my six of the wreckage I leave behind rather than yell at them for doing what I should've already done.

How you read 'cheating' into what Dawger wrote is mind boggling.

It seems evident to me that this argument started before this thread, because through only reading this thread i have no clue whats going on at all. Both reasonable guys, are you sure you both cant settle this with a duel?

one duel in each's players choice of plane. If nothing else you can continue to debate on vox instead of paper.

What happens if someone shoots at the tumbling wreckage of one of the participants? Does that guy then win?  :D

I'm not really sure where it started nor am I really sure what it is about. There is definitely a failure to communicate.
