The Matrix - something is off
« on: April 19, 2009, 01:53:00 AM »
Don't get me wrong I love, err LOVE the movie / series, but something has always been unsettling with it. I know there are things others have said are either "plot holes" or something else, but this one I have gotten to the point I have to force myself to overlook it.

If the agents can hop in and out of anyone anytime, and the know who Neo is, once the "bug" is taken out and he is brought to Morpheus why don't they hop into Neo?

They know who he is, and have to be watching... what is the point of the bug anyway?

oh well, I know it is an older movin, it just has gotten to me watching it again for the hundredth time.

The logic is simple. Ever watched some horror tv-series or movies?

There are monsters and demons. The demons are allmighty, they can do basically unlimited stuff. Materialize, immaterialize, move buildings, blow anything up etc. you get the picture. Well, except when it comes to the lead character fighting them - after which the demons degrade to physical beings tied to gravity and start exchanging punches with the lead character. You know, instead of just blowing him up, making him disappear or just materializing inside him to break him in pieces internally.

the agents could only jump into those still tied to the matrix, once neo's physical body was removed from the harvest field and he was no longer directly connected to the main frame it was no longer possible for the agents to jump into him. sort of like using a program on your computer that your operating system cant open, it can function in a windows environment, but it cant be interacted with or changed by windows. any example would be a virus worm or a trojan. they act and interact with your OS but (if written properly) your OS cant see them or interact with them but it feels and is affected by their influence.

get it?   :D

just my thoughts on the issue, or at least its the only way i could rationalize it when i watched the movies the first time.

I always thought that the last movie made the point that the humans only got enough rope to allow them to believe that they could win. Ultimately, the machines could wipe them at will, and they did that many time in the past.

I always wondered why they didn't fire the EMP at the end. Zap, humans win.

The first twenty minutes of the first film was fantastic.  The rest, not so much...

Really liked the first Matrix. Second one not as good and the third blew chunks.

The only way to redeem it would have been more of Persephone.

"Then out spake brave Horatius, the Captain of the gate:
To every man upon this earth, death cometh soon or late.
And how can man die better, than facing fearful odds.
For the ashes of his fathers and the temples of his Gods."
