P-47 Skins Question

Since we are evidently never getting a M model jug, is there someone who could give us permission to put one or two of the 56th FG M model skins onto the D40 in game? They are pretty much identical on the outside if memory serves. I can provide historic pics and profiles of several good candidates.

Think the N model can carry M skins but just to be safe you might want to email skuzzy.

Thanks for the reply, I'll send him a message. Since the M model had the traditional wing shape and some of them had the fillets on the tail I thought it would be a better match for the D40 then the N. The 353rd D25 looks awesome Larry! Thanks for doing it!

No P47M skins. Might want to do a search. HTC's rejected the idea.

P.S. previous link request was in regard to us saying we would not do an M, not about not allowing a D to be skinned as an M.

Somebody (a skinner) had asked HTC if he could skin an M, they said no. Don't recall whom. Was before the "N" came out, but the N and M aren't too similar, really.

Yeah I saw that one but he didn't say anything about the N model. I'm not a jug expert but I was told that the P-47M is just like a P-47N just with all the hard points gone. Like I said I was told this so I don't really know.

P-47M was a D-40, fuselage and wings, but with super-powered engine. THe N has different wings, squared wingtips, a million gallons of gas in the wings.

I don't recall, but the -Ms may have had the wing racks removed for speed, as well.

It would be like calling a P-38J a P-38L. Similar, but different.

Oh, and note the quote there was about a discussion regarding whether HTC will allow the P-47M to be added to the game, NOT about skins specifically. One skinner said he asked and was rejected to skin the D40 as a 47M, hence why I say they don't allow 47M skins. Would be like a B17E on a B17G.

Not really, the D40 and M are identical in appearance on the outside.

We've had this discussion before.  They have said "no" to M skins on a D-40 or D-25 (which would be more accurate), but have not ruled out a P-47M.  Someone in a thread a couple of years ago said that HTC had said "no" to the P-47M.  There was a reply in that thread from HTC stating, to paraphrase, "we've never ruled out a P-47M".

Larry, thanks for the template file, is there anywhere that says what I should do with it? Do i just start painting the background the layer on the rest? I'm a total noob.
