Aint that one of the flying saucers that launched off the submarine in that old tv series "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea"?

lol Widewing. You are 100% correct.
Northrop XP-79 Flying Ram.
This plane was called Flying RAM due to its purpose - dive on the bomber and ram it to cut off the tail. It was build completly out of steel. Had 4X .50 cal MGuns. There was build only 1 plane that was tested in september 1945. During the test plane had an accident and was destroyed. Project was terminated....

Were did you get that "B" letter in Northrop XP-79???

Were did you get that "B" letter in Northrop XP-79???

The "B" represents the version illustrated, which would actually have had the turbojets installed.
