What I have done to the place.
« on: April 20, 2009, 10:12:12 PM »

New bath, new tile, new walls New everything. Wall were bath is was knocked out and we moved bath into a closet that was being used by the bedroom. Put up a wall over a closet in the hall way and in the process of converting that to the bedroom closet

The above is a picture of the laminate flooring I put down. The mattress etc will go back on some bunk beds in the bedroom. It's a mess but maybe just maybe I will be finished this week. The FR still needs some base boards the hall way painted and the ceiling painted.

This is a picture of the bedroom floor almost done. Still have to put down some polyurethane and touch up some paint from when the sander ran away. Also need to put new outlets in and a new window.

This is a picture I've posted before of the garage in sad need of love.

This is my garage completed. Only thing really done. It is beautiful.

This is the Bedroom floor, a work in progress.

Of course, Garage just needed repaired and painted badly. The floor in the bedroom has not been stained in over 30 years and the room not painted for about 15 years. Also, when remodeling the bath we walled off the closet in the bedroom where we put the tub and shower. Thus it was just dry wall. Also, my brother and his wife are coming up in June to visit. The bathroom was just atrocious. Rotten floor, rotten walls and blue bathtub. It was just full of mold. It is the worst room I ever saw. The front room was carpeted and the carpet was about 20 years old and ragged. I was going to re-stain the wood under it and then decided to use laminate because I made a horrible mess with varnish remover. There was a hallway closet that was walled off as well. That still needs painted. The Front Room had some kind of gloomy boxy looking wood work over the windows. It was made from some kind of plywood. Just horrible!

I'm starting to like this place. The kitchen is bad but I hope to get to that when I get a job.

Well from what I can see you did a great job fixing up the place. Perhaps instead of investing in an I7 once you get a job, invest in one of these:

My place just went through a total facelift.  The house is about 125 years old and made of solid stone.

All new bathrooms (4).

All new windows...a nightmare.

New kitchen

New home office

All new furniture

All carpets removed and hardwood replaced where needed, refinished...throughout the whole house

Plumbing and electrics all brought up to modern standards.

etc etc etc

I'm now working on the outside.

Lotta remodeling going on it seems.  We have done quite a bit to this once ugly place.

Removed stained carpet from entire house; 2 rooms now have wood floors, 2 stained floors, working on the rest.
Tore out kitchen, completely redone.
Tore out bathroom, door included, re-did it, moved door to face into different room.
Added a Garage (2 story), almost finished (painting/interior work to do) siding is wood, metal roofing
Replaced house shingling with Metal roofing
Tore down Shed, built new one (little work left).
Added boat Ramp (needs replacing already)
Etc.

Sure it cost alot, but the house is worth more than 3x what we got it for, and still working.  Best part is we have done 90% of the work on our own. :D

Now get to work Getback!  House won't finish itself.

River, "Little River" is the name, but I don't call a 3-mile wide River "little".  Hate to outclass Getback's Camera, but I have pics. :D

Doesn't take much to outclass me. However, those pics of yours are great. I'm jealous.

When I took over my house it was just horrible. People refused to go into the bathroom. One contractor said he wouldn't touch it because it's a health hazard. I'm just proud of what has been done so far.

Bah, was a $100 Camera from Walmart. :)

Any Remodeling that is done is a project to be proud of, unless of course it got worse.  Then again someone not willing to go in the bathroom is hard to get worse from.  Looks darn good, and we didn't even see before pictures! :aok

I may have some before pictures some where. The bathroom actually got worse. I started remodeling myself. At one point you could see almost every room in the house while sitting on the throne. Just absolutely atrocious.

Walmart camera.  :rofl :rofl :rofl I actually looked at those really hard. Thank goodness a guy came over looking at another camera and said hey those were poor. So I didn't buy one.
