Can't find it in the book I have on artillery... I'm going to put in a guess that it is a German 20mm Oerlikon, maybe related to the 2cm Oerlikon C/30 AAA cannon.

Even close?

Oerlikon is Swiss.  That said, I have no clue what this is.  Wild guess is that its for anti-aircraft, or goose hunting.

...but the Swiss weren't a beligerent, and you will find their [EDIT:Oerlikon] guns, or guns of their design, on German ships, aircraft, and AAA guns... so I said 'German'.

The TOP-SECRET new MARS ROVER??????  :D

I have no idea what it is but I would place my bet on it being German.

It is a Japanese Type98 20mm Machine Cannon.

Note the 20-round box magazine, and how the gun is currently at maximum elevation. It is rather distinctive due to its rather short barrel in combination with the muzzle brake.

Not to mention this picture is taken directly from page 163 of The Encylcopedia of Weapons of World War II.
