I hope it lives up to the hype- and I hope its available at a reasonable price in Western Europe and the US soon, from all I've seen its mainly going to be available in Russia first. :(

If this game is as good as the video's show, then HTC shouldn’t even bother straying into WW1.

If its as good as the videos show. HTC may have some competition catch up to do.

Though this game would be a flight sim, I doubt it fills the niche market that HTC has.  I don't think ROF will have the resources (nor was it designed to) fill massively filled servers.
In game callsign: not currently flying
Flying off and on since Warbirds

That's just a matter of bandwith and server-side software these days. Once upon a time internet bandwith was very limited and AH's highly optimized network code allowed it to host more players that other games. Now AH is itself limited by human crowd behavioral concerns (why we have multiple arenas if I understand correctly). However I can now run a 128 player Il-2 server on my home computer with my home broadband connection. With the high speed connections available these days it would be no problem for a company to run a game like Il2 or this new Rise of Flight with the same number of players as AH. However they would need to develop the server-side software that runs the "war".

I see great things in the future of online flight sims, but not necessarily for Hitech Creations, they have a lot of catching up to do; I realize this is like swearing in church, but the now 8 year old Il2 still looks better than AH and is more immersive. The only reason people still play AH is that no other game company has bothered taking the marked away from them by developing massively multiplayer server software for other combat flight sims. Maybe the marked isn't big enough for the big-boys to take much notice.

Perhaps that is why we are seeing this new terrain push? Maybe they are giving it a start to catch up.

Another thing HTC has that few other games have is the fact that it is NEARLY as resource-taxing as games like IL-2, so you have the guys like me, with lower-end computers who are able to compete just fine with you billionaires with your super-computers. That and the customer service. Honestly, the customer service from HTC is just absolutely outstanding, and something no other game can hope to compete with.

Looks a lot like Over Flanders Fields. Which is a great mod for CFS3. Done by same company? OBD software?  Would like to see a MMO WW1. The only one I know of is Dawn of Aces. And its not that good. If you like WW1 check out Over Flanders Fields. Excellent. And its out now. (overflandersfield.com)

Not true, and perhaps a somewhat nieve understanding of what the AH servers acheive.

Tell me have you ever had 128 players on your IL-2 server? What is your upstream bandwidth? And what sort of router do you use?

They shouldn't bother at all.

Their WWII sim isn't finished yet.
