Typhoon Vs 190 a5
« on: October 26, 2000, 02:38:00 PM »
Hello all, I've been flying missions in the 190a5 a lot lately, afrika corps, and am having trouble getting the advantage over the typhoon. When I dive and run, it catches me, when I try and extend, it keeps pace, when I try and climb it catches me. What is the best way to engage this plane? And what can I do to get away from it?

                Thanx

Your best defense is the roll rate of the 190, and its superior initial turn rate. Rolls, combined with quick turns are good evasives. You don't want to try and outrun it, that's a battle you can't win. If you can get the Tiffie slow enough, you might be able to out accelerate it, but with its Hispanos, you also might not get out of gun range fast enough.

The higher you are, the better.  Typhoon performance drops off drastically above 20,000 feet.

That's true Funked, but so does the performance of the 190

Typhoon drops off much much worse than the 190.  190 is much faster and better at acceleration and climbing at 25k.
