Fish Fry Anyone?
« on: May 02, 2009, 12:19:11 PM »
Been raining all day, so we decided we're gonna have a fish fry tonight!  The menu consists of Crappie fillets, home-made hush puppies, home-made french fries, and home-made onion rings.  Of course we might just add more to the menu!  Anyone got any recipes or anything they'd like to share?  I might just share some of my own  :t

So true rogwar!  Here we mainly fillet them.  Sometimes we chop their heads off, scale them, and clean the guts out.  Then we just eat off the bones!

French fries with fish?  Unless you're in England thats blasphemy.  For Crappie fillets the proper side is home fries.  I usually do my fish fried, but once in a while I like something a little lighter so I will throw some fillets in a foil pack with a bunch of butter, some diced green peppers, onions, and jalapenos, bit of salt and pepper, and maybe even a couple shakes of Parmesan or hot sauce.  Throw em in the oven at 350 for 15 minutes or so and they're good to go.
To each their pwn.

Wow, that sounds good Banshee. I hope to go fishing tomorrow and maybe mushroom hunting if it's not too late.

For frying, dip it in Orly, then fry quickly.
Good luck.

It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

Well the food was great!  Had plenty of fish, hushpuppies, potatoes (home-made chips  :)) and onion rings!  Finished it off with a game of Spades.  Now let's just hope AH goes the same tonight  :lol

catfish........ 1/3 almond flour.....2/3 cornmeal....... season to taste

I have a 6 gallon ...2 basket propane fryer..... served with frys....hushpuppies..... tater tots.... etc.

this scene happens for hundreds over the summer with a bud who has the same fryer...... we can ... (and have) churn out lots of happy patrons.

best of luck

Pickled crappie!!

Suprisingly easy and equally suprisingly tasty.

I can find and post the recipe if anyone is interested.
It may be a few days before I locate it though.
