Two "100" planes....
« on: October 26, 2000, 10:02:00 PM »
I think the He-100 would be a good plane to add to Aces High, as it was no super-performer, yet it lacked many of the vices of the Bf-109.  It would give the Luftwaffe fliers a good alternative to the Bf-109 and FW-190 series, yet it wouldn't dominate the arena.

Maybe the Luftwaffe fliers should ask for this one after they get the FW-190D-9

For the Japanese, I think the Ki-100 is a good plane to add.  Although it was not quite as good as the Ki-84 at low altitudes, the Ki-100 was reputed to have good high-altitude performance--something most Japanese planes woefully lacked.  IMO, the Ki-100 would "fill out" the Japanese planeset much better than the Ki-84 would (ideally we would get both).

I know not many of either type were built (particularily the He-100), but I feel that what a plane will add to the game, is more important than production numbers.  The Ki-100 would give the Japanese planeset a plane with good high-altitude performance.  the He-100 would give the German planeset some variety.

The Ki-100 is a likely candidate for the next Japanese plane.  Especially since it also forms the basis for the Ki-61 or vice versa.

I would love to see more Japanese planes added, but i think the Jack was a better climber and the Ki 44 better still. The Ki 84 would be a great plane to have though, and the Ki 102 would be a real treat. Food for thought on the upcoming "Naval" aspect would be a Tenzan or a Ryusei.

HE-100 wasn't accepted by the LW. But the dozen built did see action defending the Heinkel factory as a "company defense force". How much and what the results were I'm not sure. But there weren't any HE-100's left at the end of the war.
It was a better plane than the ME-109 during the RLM trials.  I'd vote for it based on the novelty alone.

Only if you blow-up, burn, melt, choke and cough up your bleeding lungs or just slough all the tissue off your body from time to time as the fuels "gets to you".  :-)

Heck, don't go part way, go Natter :-)

Well, it wouldn't really climb that badly, that figure is probably for a less than maximum power setting.

But yeah; just because it was made in 1945, doesn't mean it performs at 1945 "standards". In this case more like 1941-42 standard.

The Ki-84, and the late model Ki-61 both outperformed the Ki-100 in just about every way.

No need in the least to perk any of the aircraft mentioned in my post.
