NEXT PLANE FOR THE EMPIRE OF THE SUN
« on: October 27, 2000, 02:31:00 AM »

Well pick a favorite and list it,or add one if U like, say your first 3 favorites

  Ki-102
  Ki-100
  Ki-44
  Ki-84
  B7A2
  P1Y1
  B6N2

Now I would pick the Ki-84 as the fighter to add,the Ki-102 as the heavy fighter to add(also a good ground ponder can U say 57mm cannon ) and the last 3 are all just tooooo good to pass up in the Bomber category , when I am hungry everything looks good

Well I've heard HT say that the KI-100 is on the "short" list to be modeled.

Rest of the list looks just fine here!

Gimme!

Ki-84-Ib
P1Y1
Ki-44-IIb

Something I want to know is the numbers of:

1. Ki-44-IIc with 4x20mm Ho-3 cannon?
2. Ki-44-IIc with 2x12.7mm, 2x40mm Ho-301 cannon?
3. Ki-44-IIc with 2x12.7mm, 2x37mm Ho-203 cannon?

And:

4. Ki-84-Ic with 2x20mm, 2x30mm Ho-155 cannon?

Were these guns fitted in small numbers as a test like the Fw 190's with the MK 103 or WB 151/20 pods? Or were they used in significant numbers?

Joe Baugher has a good read on the Ki-44.

Aircraft of the World

Haven't read it in a while, but as I remember he's got quite a bit of info there.

Per Richards Beuschels book on the Ki-44:

Ki-44-IIa 355 produced armed with (2) 7.7mm in the cowling and (2) 12.7mm in the wings

Ki-44-IIb 393 produced armed with (2) 12.7m in the cowling and (2) 40mm Ho.301 in the wings. Unfortunately, the effective range of the 40mm cannons was only 150 yards due to extremely low muzzle velocity.

Ki-44-IIc 427 produced armed with (2) 12.7mm in the cowling and (2) 12.7mm in the wings.

I would love to see the following 3 birds though;

Ki-44-IIc
Ki-83 (Hvy Fighter)
J2M5 Raiden

Ki-100, a fine looking plane and a nice late war turn&burn.

Ki-102, nice to have for those tacky bombers and tanks.

Ki-43-IIIb, self sealing tanks, two 20mm cannon and 1,250hp. Just the thing for those unwanted drop in guests around the home field.

J2M5 Raiden, four 20mm cannon and good climb.
