D30 missing hp?
« on: November 16, 2001, 12:05:00 PM »
I tested the D25 and D30 offline, both 100% fuel, 8-gun, 267rpg. D25 wep climb matched the help charts at 2-3000ft (~2900fpm). D30 was exactly the same as the 25, not the ~3200fpm in the charts.

I could get 3250fpm out of the D30 by taking 50% fuel, but the same goes for the D25.

Unless the charts are for different fuel/ammo loads it seems something is amiss.

I was just about to tell you that I couldn't duplicate it, but then I decided to try it with the release version instead of my test version and I see the same thing.  I'll take a look at it and figure out what's going on.

Thanks Pyro!

I remeber doing some quick tests months ago, just see what the difference between the 25 and 30 was. They always seemed exactly the same. I just figured that how it was supposed to be till i looked at the new climb charts.

You could time the altimiter (feet per second) and figure it out that way, but that would be a pain in the butt for sure.

I too wonder why they don't show more than +/- 4K/min--our cockpits aren't historical anyway.

Every LW fighter except 190A-8 can climb faster than 4000 fpm.  Surely the VSI limits are part of a vast conspiracy.

Honestly funked what is that supposed to mean.... Spit IX climbs faster than 4k min so do yak9s and La7s. Honestly what do you hope to accomplish with that?

Really innapropriate funked.

Real life Spit IXs climbed faster than 4k a minute, but AH's does not, despite what the VSI shows. There was a post by Pyro a very long way back that said the Spits VSI read too high.

Yep Spit IX won't climb 4k a minute in AH.  More like 3800.

Grunherz I was just giving my squaddie RAM a hard time.    :)

Your point about the VSI is a good one.  I think most of the real VSI's had a similar limitation, but since AH instrumentation is not historical, there's probably no reason to keep that limitation.
