new C47 "cargo"
« on: May 06, 2009, 03:53:11 PM »
Ok, so here's the scenario- the TT 7miles from your base is under attack, enemy bombers are about to hit your hangers and have already knocked out the veichel hanger at the TT and you want to be able to help out your boys at the TT. What you need is a couple of 81mm mortars or some AT guns that you can drop at the TT from a C47. They could show up as a position on the field gun option on the clip board in the hanger. Since there will already be tankers at the base then they can aim and shoot the gun with ease. since it would take a while for the AT gun to set up then it could have a time on it. Or one other option would be to load out the paratroopers with bazookas and give them 4 rounds each, and make it so they will find cover in some rubble, or behind a bush, or on a roof instead of having the charge. Just an idea, don't flame too hard.

I simply can't agree with this idea. If you really want mortars and AT guns, please play CoD 2.

No.
Here's another scenario:
Up a A20 or P47 or P38 or P51 or F4U, you know theres plenty of planes with bombs, and go kill the enemy GVs.

Sorry, I meant to add that ords is already down, it probably won't count as ord because you can't kill someone directly with them, someone else has to fire them, or they are A.I. controled. And denholm, don't you mean CoD 3, or does CoD 2, not Big Red One, have mortars and AT guns? And if you mean CoD 3, then I have, you can't use them in online play, and it dosen't give you even the pretence of stratigy; about all you can do is decide which road to take, but they all go to the same place or you can shoot at it from where the road ends. And they are not nearlly so friendly there, they only focus on wining, not having fun while doing it.

I thought that supplies just decreced the ammount of time you had to wait before ord and hangers and fule, all that good stuff gets back up. If I am wrong then please, someone correct me, and if I am right then please back me up. And besides the bazooka totin paratroopers would come in handy if you are attacking a base to, or the AT guns could be dropped in a valley, or pass and create a choke point so that the A20G's and P47's, and if someone wants to take the time, then the lanks could come bomb them to. Or if none of these ideas will work then we could just mount an AT gun on a halftrack like in WWII.

True, supplies reduce the down time.  Bring enough supplies and the time is reduced completely.

Make sense?

Yes it decreases the downtimes. I've gotten ord up at a field in 3-5 runs before, depending on how long it's been down. Plus, you get a few perkies for free in doing so.

To be clear, supplies affect downtimes of auto acks, ords, troops, fuel and dar.

They do NOT affect downtimes of hangers or town buildings.

Hangar downtime is pretty darn short really anyway.  If you have ground pounders still alive when all three hangars go down, there's a pretty good chance they can hang on until a hangar pops.  Unless of course there is an enemy air presence in the area to bomb the GVers...  In which case, you aren't going to be getting your C47 with an AT gun in anyway.

4 planes that can take tanks out.
Spitfire with 20mm is also capable of knocking a tank, maybe not demolishing, but stopping. Sooner or later he'll leave the tank, and it'll be your kill.

Well, yeah, the cheapo way. Any 20mm bird can track a tank.

More like, you'll put enough rounds into the tracks to steal the kill from a tanker.

I would hazard to guess that a vast majority of whirblewind "kills" are the player abandoning a turreted vehicle as, without supplies available, there is little point in continuing the sortie.
