Shelling a CV from a SB
« on: May 07, 2009, 11:47:35 AM »
I had a question about shelling CV's from the SB, last night I was shelling a CV from a SB and I must have hit it atleast 15 times, and it had already been hit with ord before hand & was on fire, and it still didn't go down, so I was wondering does anyone know just how many hits from a SB it takes to kill a CV, and does anyone know what a direct hit from a SB is equal to in ord?

One 8" shell equals about 488lbs ords. See: http://trainers.hitechcreations.com/guns/guns.htm

That means it takes about 17 hits by SB to sink a CV.

But note that CV do repair themselves constantly. That's the reason why, for example, it's almost impossible for a single player to sink a CV with repeated Jabo attacks on his own. The 8K total damage needed to sink a CV have to be applied withing a short timespan.

Ahh ok, I was wondering that, because last night I up'd a formation of Ar234's and set the salvo to 1 and hit the CV with 2 of the salvo's, which was like about 6k in ord, then got in the SB and hit it about 10-15 times, it still didn't go down so I up'd a heavy 38 with 2k of ord and 10 rockets, hit it with all that and she still didn't sink, I was wondering if they repaired themselves.

Does anyone know what the repair time frame is?  Like how much damage is repaired over an amount of time?

Also, thats a nice little page there that gives you those damage amounts, thanks.

OK........I'm never going CV hunting again unless I have enough ord. to sink it in one pass or if I'm not alone.

I just don't go CV hunting unless I'm just scouting. The puffy and manned 5" ack is ludicrously lethal.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Don't worry, it won't hit you if you're intending to kill it :lol
