Claim Jumpers, of which I am a member, is an open door squad.  Racdogg wants to pitch a big tent.  So what?

How many wings is enough?  However many we want.

You confuse me.  A squad is limted to 32 people.  There is no such thing as a Wing in AH besides the ones on our cartoon airplanes.  Mine has 1 and 1/2 wings.  How bout yours?

Guppy, I can't tell if you're trying to be cute.  I'll try to explain as if you not being sarcastic.

There are many squads under the Claim Jumper name.  The term 'wings' is used for each separate AH2 squad within the larger CJ 'squad.'

In the RL USAF, squads are subordinate to wings.  But, as you point out, these are cartoon planes, so no big deal.

One would think if a squad has 9 wings and a gazillion members they would want to focus on training.  ESPECIALLY a squad that pretty much has zero standards and invites anybody with a pulse.

So....  Who does the squad training?

I looked at the members of most the 9 wings and that question kept jumping out at me.

Remember the cartoon aspect of all this.

Training?  The only standard to fly in AH2 is the ability to download the software.  There is no FAA.  There is no Stan/Eval section.  People don't wash out of Aces High 2.

What fills these forums is a bunch of self appointed arbiters of "goodness."  Half of the pompous blowhards posting are picking, score manipulators who compensate for other inadequacies by putting other people down.  Get over your cartoon self importance.  Live and let live.

So basically NOBODY has the ability to train, and you are going for the whole "raw numbers has its own skill level" angle?

How sad.

I asked to be corrected.  I fully hope that they do try and teach their new players.  It is my fondest wish that they are forming a multi-wing squad that will shake the heavens in AcesHigh with their skill and ability.  I WANT them to learn, train, and be able to give a good fight when I run across 'em in the skies.

Unfort. the only points I saw were "we are going for numbers". "we do not train" and "we have no standards what so ever".

The EXACT formula for bad gameplay.  Huge packs of players with little to no skill using raw numbers and dweeby tactics to get results.

How original.  (sigh)

Understood on "Wings"  An RAF Wing was 2-3 squads.  But there is no Wing designation in Aces High.  Squads are limited to 32.  The notion of  Squads with the same as part of a Wing, seems a bit silly to me is all.  The notion of 288 players in the same group, which would be 9 squads of 32 each, kind of kills the idea of any kind of opposition.  You'd need an arena just to host your 9 squad wing.  Gonna fight each other?

My old squad took us to the TA once in a year. And in the DA the older members ganged up on the newbies.  Watching people you think are good cartoon pilots is how I learned, and still em. Iv'e met a few guys I'd wing with in the claim jumpers. I think I just like being in a tighter group where I know a squaddie will clear my 6, or hold his own. IMO
