Always wondered why they even bother with a hull...  Why not one big force field bubble or something?   :aok

would you sleep or take a dump in a glass house?

OK.... next time your shot down just cancel your account as "you are dead". That would be more realistic.

It is possible to fly with half a wing gone. Now, 9/16s of a wing gone? That would just be beyond the pale and WRONG.
"Crikey, sir. I'm looking forward to today. Up diddly up, down diddly down, whoops, poop, twiddly dee - decent scrap with the fiendish Red Baron - bit of a jolly old crash landing behind enemy lines - capture, torture, escape, and then back home in time for tea and medals."

This guy not only flew, but landed after a mid-air during
a training exercise.

:O :O But still that plane has a computer to help with stability and such, plus the speed of the plane helps create the lift needed to stay airborne. Some of the planes in AH are capable of flying around at 150 mph if they have flaps down, you would think at such low speeds the plane would have the lift to keep the plane stable enough to fly.

If you have flaps down, you are evening out the lift between the two wings. The problem with flying with half of one wing isn't so much that you've lost lift, but that you've lost lift asymmetrically. It's actually easier to fly with half of both wings gone (provided you've still got your rudder :) ) BTW you can fly most planes a lot slower than 150 mph ;)

I know you can fly planes a lot slower than 150 but a F4U evading at around 150 mph is a tad bit extreme I think

planes like the F6 can usually keep on fighting with 1/2 a wing. I know of many times when I've lost half a wing and still out turned and killed the other guy, even spit 16's and zero's.

I've never been able to effectively evade, nor have I ever seen anybody evade, with 1 half of a wing. The only way you can really 'evade' is to trust that your weird irregular flightpath and low speed throws off the other guys aim.

The pics of the F15 flying and landing are fake.  The closeup pics on the ground are real.  This one is also real:

As far as being able to dive out and recover with such damage this is exactly what the F14 did.  He sliced through another F14 during ACM and immediately entered a high-speed spiral at 450kts+ but managed to recover and land in Singapore.  The F14 did not have the computer augmented flight control system of the F15.  It only had analog stability augmentation which damped pitch/roll/yaw oscillations yet the F14 still made a successful landing.
